not for me, he's just looking for an inexpensive bike to own in NYC that can handle the roads, 2 up, and some moderate highway speeds.

not sure how far you/they are willing to travel but CL has an '02 in Chelmsford MA for $1800 and an '01 in RI for $1600.

i'll troll my old Buell boards and see if anything else is available further north.

Is he only interested in a buell blast? A gs500, ninja 500, would all have about double the power and reliability for highway and two up. A ninja 250 has more power than a buell blast and weighs less. So a ninja 250 is better than a blast for two up and highway in my opinion. You can probably find an old 250 in that range

I'd like to get around $2300 for it. Less than 5000 miles on it if I remember correctly, but domt quote me. Jardine exhaust, modded intake and rejetted. Hasn't been taken out of storage yet this season.
