    Re: WTB: a friggin bike!

Ninja500 is faster than the GS500e. Never rode a Hawk or Ninja250. I hear the 500F is faster top end because of the fairing, but the engine is the same. Carbs are a little better on the 500F than the 500e once you re-jet.

eBay lowering links are $20 for the GS500. I have to figure they are about the same for the Ninja500. It took me half an hour to do, now that I know how, it could be 15 minutes. Judging by this thread you could find SOMEONE to install them for you.

Here's a 2003 Ninja 500 in Salem, MA with an asking price of $2300 and less than 10k miles. I'm sure you're only a hairflip and bat of the eyelashes away from $2000.

If you are looking at an EX500 go 1994 or later. The 94-present have 17" rims, disk rear brake, etc. Much better package. Plus 16" tires are harder to find rubber for.

actually I dropped it on the left, he did it on the right. now at least the fairings match. I bought an entire set of fairings to re-do but never did them and gave them to my (now) ex to sell on ebay and for him to keep the cash...maybe I can get those back too if theyre not sold

NADA says $2540 average retail price...sounds like it was well maintained and taken care of, even though dropped, so I guess 2200 isn't bad.

If you're a haggler type, you could maybe talk them down the cost of another jump

Why on earth would you buy fairings (pretty expensive) and then give them to the ex to sell and let him keep the coin? geez. Wish my ex was like that.

I knew the kid from the Air Force so I gave him a sweet deal on it last year, hopefully he reciprocates. AND it was delivered to his house via motorcycle trailer.

I wanted the fairings for track days, switch them off and keep the factory ones mint (bought the bike mint). I sanded them all down but never fiber glasses and finished them. They were taking up space and when I sold the bike I didn't want to deal with selling the fairings (and gas tank too). The ex always sells/ships stuff on ebay so it was easier for me to give them to him to get rid of and just keep the money. I didn't care at that point, but now I may want them if he didn't get rid of them yet.
