    WTB Fz6 -or- vfr800 - ST 1050 - fz1000

Drunk driver destroyed my beautiful vfr800 in North Carolina on the return leg of a cross country trip. Would also be interested in an fz6, sprint 1050 or fz1. I have been hunting craigs but nothing is standing out, figured I would ask the Forum. Would consider anything between $2-3k. Not afraid of dumped machines as long as they have been ridden since and proven safe. Let me know if you have anything.

    Thanks!

That's crazy - glad you are OK. I have a VFR800 VTEC for the past couple of years after owning a 2008 FZ6 for 2.5 years. Both bikes are great, but different. I would think there should be plenty of first generation FZ1's around in your price range

Ya, it wasn't my favorite part of the trip... ask GTbensley on this forum he was with me with an fz1 which had gotten pretty mangled too. I have seen a few fz1's I am just not sure I can trust them... thats why I am asking the forum folks.... you all seem pretty trust...err...worthy

Having ridden the second generation FZ1, unless you are really into the twisties the first generation is probably a more comparable bike to the ST1050 or the VFR in comfort. The first gen with Ivan't mod is massively more powerful in the useful rpm range, but you have to be OK with going back to carburetors. 2006+ VTEC's are great bikes - nothing special, but very good overall.

I have owned a rebel 250, a ninja 250, a zzr600 and the 5th gen vfr800. The zzr was tons of fun but I found I developed the most on the vfr and I was comfortable to push myself on it. We took them to deals gap on the trip and I was dragging pegs and the center stand occasionally. Nothing as crazy as some of you riders here, but having never taken any classes I felt more comfortable trying to use what the bike had to offer. I would like another I-4 though. I also got better mpg on the zzr tho it was premium.

    Any one have something???
