    WTB: Old GoPro

Four cars swerved towards me on my commute this morning...ready to become one of the GoPro commuters

Have an old one you've replaced and want to sell cheap? Would also consider another brand. Can trade MC parts and gear if interested.

I have front and rear dash cams. They were $60ish each on Amazon.
    Much better than any GoPro

Are they waterproof? That's probably my only concern because I assume any camera is good enough to get a plate #

They aren't waterproof but how would you get water where they go? Mine is behind the rear view mirror and on the top of the rear glass

No. You should get a 4k camera if you wish to clearly read plates at speed. Also, the newer GoPro's have better low-light recording. I am looking at the Hero5 Session to replace my Contour for these reasons. Sure, it's expensive but if you get hit it might be worth it...my justification at least.

    Re: WTB: Old GoPro

If you plan on wearing and operating the camera every ride, a GoPro is fine, or a cheap generic alternative like the DBPOWER should be fine. I agree with OneCheekRider that 4K is ideal for getting detail, but recording in 4K at all times is going to take up a LOT of space and you'll need to constantly delete files. IMHO, 1080 is pretty decent and even at 4K you'll have a tough time getting plate #'s from speeding vehicles. 4K will give you higher detail, but you'll sacrifice frames - so, better shots but a lot less of them so less chance of catching an angle that is useful. Really need a bit of luck either way..

For an always-on camera, that's a different story. I've been looking at some different units like the Innovv but haven't settled on anything. I'd like a front/rear cam that are weatherproof, run off the bike's battery and constantly record in a loop - so zero maintenance.
