    WTB: Middleweight Naked/upright bike

Buddy of mine is taking the course shortly.

    He's a bigger guy, 240lbs.

Looking for a bike to learn on/keep for a while.

SV650 would be ideal, or Bandit, etc.

Let me know what you have. All options considered.

    Re: WTB: Middleweight Naked/upright bike

Edit: I've been checking Craigslist regularly.

Either of those would be great if I was looking for a bigger bike than a middleweight.

    Re: WTB: Middleweight Naked/upright bike

I was recently looking for the same thing. If you are looking on CL I have nothing to add but I looked for an FZ6 and EX650 mostly. I also considered a GS500 and EX500. I nixed the SV because of lack of wind protection and riding position.

2005 FZ6. I wasn't planning on marketing this for another month or two but if it's something he's interested in I could take some current photos and determine the mileage, etc.

John and Smutt, I think both of those options would be out of his price range. He's in the $2k ballpark.

Thanks for the thought though, it is appreciated.

Still too steep. I actually showed him a picture of your bike to demonstrate that good deals can be had for his price range.

But then to look around, MAN, used bikes have gone WAY up since the fall.

At 240lbs he's going to look like a giant on a mini bike. that's why I included the 1000 cc or above bikes. Suspension is going to be screaming on either one anyhow.

    A 600 is not a "mini bike".

Bay 4 Motorsports in Tewksbury MA has a '97 Bandit for $2395. The owner Rick is a great guy and my source for the best price for parts local.

1200's are quite alot of bike for a beginner. I think Clayton was referring to the more subdued 600 Bandits.

I forgot they make 600 Bandits I only think of the 1200's. I honestly thought Rossco's bandit was a 1200. It's a good size frame on it. Most of the middleweight bikes I see just seem tiny when I sit on them or just standing by them. I said most of them for you hair splitters.

I have an SFV650 and it's a 2009. This is a great beginner's bike. Is he big tall or big bulk?

That bike for $2k is a good deal. When can we pick it up?

I'm nearly that weight. My DL650 handles me okay... at least I think it does.

1st gen SV650, with renthal fatbars

Looks like an S, converted to a standard. Kinda ugly if you ask me but for 2 grand, beggars can't be choosers.

This post is kinda bugging me. I wish people would stop perpetuating this kind of BS. Especially people that claim to be avid motorcyclists.

He's got time. No rush to buy. I'd rather not a "mystery milage" bike.

At 210, I love riding our Ninja 250 regularly. It is faster than my DR650 most of the time, and if I had to pick one to go on a long street ride with, the 250 would win.

    No.

Two years ago he had back surgery. While he is healed, he does not want to stress his back any more than he has to in the form of a supersport.

An upright naked is what he is looking for and I think it is a good choice.
