    WTB Motard/SV Dunlop Takeoff Slicks

I asked about this last year in this thread (http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...d-dunlops.html) but then I couldn't race.

So I'm looking to get a set of the 125/165 dunlop slicks (looks like the KR106 and KR108) to try out on my tard and keep my expenses down, I don't want to buy a new set.

Last time I raced a tard I was doing 23's and a couple 22's, so they don't need to be mint or anything but they need to be in decent enough shape and good life left.

I'm only planning on one race a weekend on the tard so if I can get a good enough set I'm hoping it will last me most of the season unless I get faster.

Let me know what you've got.

Re: WTB Motard/SV Dunlop Takeoff Slicks

By the way I have a set of Pirelli 120/180 diablo slicks supersoft (blue) that will be coming off the bike if you're interested in a trade, that would be even easier. They have a lot of life left in them. There's a little bit of rebound tear on one side of the rear because my shock needed a rebuild wicked bad, but it's not bad and there's lots of life left. It will smooth out probably when you ride it.

Drop Clarkie a PM (lrrs428). Not sure what he's got left, but he might have something with some life left in it.

Re: WTB Motard/SV Dunlop Takeoff Slicks

ive got some chris. i KNOW i have a set of softs (F/R) ( i may have others that i can part with). tards dont weigh much so they should last a little longer on your bike then the last set of softs i put on mine. i generally run soft on the front and medium on the rear on the SV. i think i got a few NHMS days out of the rear and a full day on MMC North.
when do you need them? by race weekend or do you want to try them at a BoMo day first? either way i can get them to the track for ya

Thanks guys. I am looking to use these first race weekend.

I'm not going to try them first, just put them on, set the pressures and practice two sessions sunday morning and race sunday afternoon. So I guess I just need them like Saturday so I can get them mounted.

Not sure what I want for stickiness (soft/med).

Either/both of you going to be up there first weekend and if so when?

I'm thinking I'll practice on the R6 on Friday probably so I should be up there.

Thanks oxx. If Adam has some good ones too then I don't want you to have to make a trip. Sounds like either one of you can help me out.

Maybe I'll just go with whoever wants less money and has more tread on their set

There is still tread on a slick, no sipes though. I would guess that the tread on a slick would more commonly be referred to as rubber though.

mmhmm... the tread is the part that touches the ground, so technically the slick is ALL tread.

    So shut your face, preteen!

Go get all the takeoffs you want at the tire garages. I ran seasons without buying a pair for my motard, and at better times than you're expecting.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

I run whole seasons on laced wheels covered in tool dip. Because the marchensinis cost more.

I'm not sure if there will be any on the first race weekend though...? And I heard they had a shortage of these last year too according to smutty.

I'll take a look at yours too if you come up but like I said don't make a trip just for that.

Re: WTB Motard/SV Dunlop Takeoff Slicks

i figured the shortage last year was because of talk that dunlop would be replacing the current slicks used my the 250/motard/LW bikes with N-Tecs. i just looked at dunlops site and see no mention of said replacement that i had heard about from the fellows that run the Calabogie days (who are also the Dunlop reps there).
