Like any store you can return it because it didn't work to your expectations. I think a store credit would have been sufficient or even an exchange.

Yea..I don't think restocking fees really apply to an item unless it is ordered.

And I will no longer deal with cycles 128...I have been telling friends of mine to not go there anymore to add to your 6 people you have gotten to go elsewhere.

Chris has always been good to me over there. I only buy small stuff like oil or chain lube or brake fluid ect.
That sux man. Most all my bigger purchases I buy on line and have never had a problem on returning things.

For example, in my store we had someone who bought one of those vinyl privacy things you put on windows, she cut it to fit, hung it on her shower and then decided she didnt like it. We've never had anyone say it doesnt give enough privacy, so its an isolated incident of taste. We cant send it back to the manufacturer because the person didnt like it, we cant resell it, so we'd be out of the money, so what can we do? We cant make a constant habit of giving product away so people can decide if they like it or not, thats not a great way to stay in business. Isolated incidents you try to take care of the customer, but you cant really make a habit of it.
So your definition of "lightly used" might not be the same as 128s definition of "saleable"
Just trying to show the other side of things, (mind you I have nothing to do with 128 whatsoever) but I hope things work out well for you.

Pitt, I completely understand that.. but if the product had been defective, like a zipper not working, stitching let go etc. in two weeks they would have sent it back to the manufacturer without a question. I saw alot of that when I worked in retail. People would bring back big dollar outdoor gear that had minor flaws and the vendor/manufacturer doesn't complain. Now my jacket wasn't a $500 dollar winter coat, or a $300 pair of hiking boots, BUT I never told someone to sell it on Ebay or Craigslist. I also wanted to retain my customers. I guess I could have been a dishonest prick and made my coat defective very easily, I guess thats a character flaw on my part... you know, being honest and all. Not directed at you Pitt, its less about the product and more about the way I was treated at this point.

at first i thought the same thing but all he is asking for is a different jacket not a full refund. Unless the jacket shows obvious use....if the jacket is noticeably faded after 2 weeks even with everyday use that sounds to me like a defect in the jacket

    Re: Cycles 128

ive had good and bad with C128. my F4i purchase back in 01-02 went great, Frank was a salesman back then (no clue if still there). walked in, bought it, walked out. never to go back again.

the bad, a close friend purchased a bike from them last year or so based on my previous experience. bad move. they jerked him around FOR ALMOST A YEAR, sold him a bike he couldn't register in CT. paperwork was all f'd up, bike wouldnt run and no one at C128 cared once they had his money. gave him the runaround for so long he gave up and didnt even want to ride (MX guy trying to start street riding)

long story short, after going through that experience with him, i'll never purchase anything from them again.

Well, my hope is that other NESR members wont get treated the same way. We have enough members who are vendors, that everyone here should be able to (and should be) support other NESRerians.

Funny thing. I bought my 06 Busa from Honda East Toledo Ohio. For the mere fact that when i called cycles 128 to see what they had there. The first thing they wanted was my first and last name! Fuck that! That's bullshit! They lost a fukkin sale cause of that.

Then a few months back, i went there to see if they had a Gen II 08 busa on the floor. The salesman says it will be in this week. "Gimme your fone number and I will call you so you can see it". Again, fuck that!!!

Different stores have different policies. Also different items have different or NO return policies. for Example Costco will take back ANYTHING even FOOD !!! In your case the customer opened and 'cut to fit' that would be no return in my eyes. the product was altered. 98% of the clothing stores out there will take clothes back for not fitting issues as long as they have the reciept, most for store credit. That's all Nick wanted an exchange for a smaller size. These things (exchanges for items) are thought of and accounted for with the price of doing business. The same with loss ie: theft

    Re: Cycles 128

OK guys, I tried to not chime in on this. I am John from Cycles128, Im the one who told Nick I would check into the parts guys to see what was up. The version I got from the parts manager as to the condition of your jacket is QUITE different then the story you tell. As to your treatment, I cant speak to that. I asked the parts manager to do me a favor to avoid a thread like this that Nick started. What I was told is that the jacket looked like you went dirtbike riding in it, filthy and all tags removed. Basically a used jacket. At that point I figured Nick knows what condition the jacket is in, why should I stick my foot in there when hes gonna blast the dealership and make a public thread on here?? I didnt want to get involved at first. Now there is so much whining I had to speak up. I make my living at this store. I feed my family and kids, pay for my trackdays and bikes with the income from this store. My mortgage and food bills are paid by what I make here. Because of that, I hope to keep people happy. Is that possible ALL the time? No. Not all people are reasonable, sometimes the unreasonable people are behind the counter sometimes in front of it. I dont work in parts, Im in sales, so I had nothing to do with this and didnt even see the jacket. I tried to help but met a roadblock when I was told the jacket was warn and dirty and the tags were gone. You say it was two weeks and you had the reciept, the version I heard differs from that too. Again, I was not there for the transaction, only stating what I was told. Actually, I dont remember about the reciept.

I understand you are upset about it. Enough to publicly blast me? Was the jacket THAT uncomfortable? Were you treated THAT bad? Or did you just not get your way? Was the jacket NEW as you say, or only used a few times and then you decided you didnt like it/it didnt fit, whatever, as you also say? Enough to make a whole thread about it and turn 6 people away from buying anything here? Really?

By the way Nick, I was on Schleppys ride with you a few weeks ago on my RC51, why didnt you say anything to me then? You know who I am.

    Re: Cycles 128

John, it was not a blast to you, I was more disappointed after you didn't call that you most likely remembered me on the ride and didn't say anything. As for the parts dept.? I showed them the receipt, and dirtbike riding? thats a little rediculous, but whatever. I understand thats your living, but they are not stand up guys, except chris, in that parts dept. Ive heard horror stories from others not even on this board. You may be a great employee, and person to work with when PURCHASING a motorcycle. As for the rest, seems like they aren't interested in cont. to run a business. Once again, I'm not mad at you, I am angry b/c now they are making me out to be a liar. The receipt is taped to the jacket in my closet, and the tags are in the pocket. Only after riding my bike for the first time w/ the jacket did i realize it was not the correct fit and tried adjusting it the next day to see if I could make it more comfortable. But I guess my 1125r is now a dirt bike. So maybe I should be looking to purchase some MX boots and some goggles. Sorry it went this way, and maybe I should have mentioned something that night on schleppy's ride.... but the fact that you didn't say anything to me either means that we are both at fault in that instance. Sorry that your parts dept. has given your dealership a bad name. Also, I am obviously not the only person who has bad dealings with Cycles in the past, I will probably be known as an A-hole from now on... hopefully they will get wind of this and make Cycles a better place to go.

Nick, you are FAR from an asshole. In the limited time I have spent talking to you its always been plesant. Matter of fact, youre a funny mother fukker.

I only wanted to provide an opposing side to this. Now, like then, I wish I could have helped, it however is something I cannot overrule.

To be honest, I should have said something to you on the ride, but the first few minutes I honestly didnt remember it was you, and when I did put it together I was a bit afraid to say something cause we had already been talking about stuff....

Ya know what...when ya got something bothering you, its good to talk about it, to get it out.

John, I saw the jacket before he brought it back... In fact I even told him he shouldn't have a problem returning it & couldn't believe it when he told me the guy wouldn't let him exchange it for a different size.

I dunno... he musta had some reason when he saw it, but me thinks the parts guy he talked to was tryin to cover his ass for turning away a customer by embellishing things a bit.... sorta like the time I passed Larry Pegram at VIR down the front straight on my EX500.... It really DID happen... it's just that he was in the pits

And I feel bad about affecting YOUR livelihood but the rest of them are Aholes... honestly... you and Chris C. dont fit in up there b/c of that fact. I just wish things had gone differently, but this isn't the first time they snubbed me, and that short SOB behind the counter would have been handled differently a few years ago. He was just rude about it, and I cant stand rude... especially in a sales position.

Did you just say Nick was plesant?

But really, I have talked to you a few times before John and your a nice guy. But most of the people in yours parts department and service department over at cycles just don't seem to care about customer satisfaction. I really wish management would get ahold of this over there and do something about the way things are handled over there.

I don't go there for parts and do tell friends of mine to stay away from the parts department also. I have however reccomended going to see you if they are interested in buying a bike.

I'm not involved at all but let me ask you this....do you think your dealership made the right decision in not throwing a difficult customer some type of bone? What would it have cost them to give him a new jacket or store credit? Let's assume that everything your employer said was true....look at the fall out...you have lost business because of that decision....
