    Dyno-Bead Tire Balancing

I just decided to try the new Dyno-bead tire balancing system, vs. the typical wheel weights. anybody else try these, notice any differences? Obviously I haven't gotten to ride it yet, just wondering what to expect.

Is that like that Equal sand stuff truckers use? If so I tried it in a set of 33" truck tires. My review is that it sucked. Big bags of Portugese dicks.

    Re: Dyno-Bead Tire Balancing

I searched a few forums and can't find anyone that has used them. On the dyna bead site they explain how it works well for motorcycle tires and not for wider car or truck tires. I wonder if it really works?

Well...I think I will stay with the stick-on weights.....

The way we do this is by offering a Dynamic Balancing Solution, a high-density ceramic bead that, when easily installed, continuously balances your tires as you drive. The amount of material will distribute itself in weight and position dependent on the balance requirements of the individual tire.

    Don't go near that stuff.

That's coming from a guy that mounts and balances hundreds and hundreds of bike tires a year.

    Re: Dyno-Bead Tire Balancing

I tried them last year, I saw NO advantage/disadvantage to them at all.

I really doubt they did a thing.

I usually don't ballance my tires and have not had a problem......yet.

Don't mean I shouldn't I just did not have a balancer and I change my own tires...

They never wobbled before them, nor after they were installed.....

I still have a good size bag of them if someone want to try them or see if they even work....try them on a tire that is WAY off.....be interesting to see, maybe?

Especially on the track, one session on the tires and the balancing is out the window anyways.

    Re: Dyno-Bead Tire Balancing

Those beads can only correct imbalances in very specific scenarios which don't occur with motorcycles.

    Re: Dyno-Bead Tire Balancing

Degsy, don't they put balance marks on the tires from the factory showing how to place the tire on the wheel for the closest balance?

I too never balanced tires until I had a front wheel wobble at 85mph. It was a consistant wobble anytime I hit 85. It didn't do that when the tire was new, but after 8,000+ miles of mostly commuting to Western MA on route 2, this developed. I took it to a dealer who balanced it and put weights on it and it was fine after that. Now I have all my tires and wheels balanced every time.

Some companies do and others dont. I know Michelin doesnt put a mark on its tire. The way they are manufactured they dont typically have a heavy spot. Ive had sets that have needed no weights. Dunlop puts a yellow mark on their tires and that goes at the valve stem.

    Re: Dyno-Bead Tire Balancing

I'm not advocating their use. And I'm certainly not putting 3 ounces of additional material around the outside circumference of my wheels but, I came across this. Figured I'd post because it was the topic of discussion.

I have nothing better to do so I spend an hour balancing my own tires to minimize the addition of weights.

    Re: Dyno-Bead Tire Balancing

Thanks for posting; i was also interested in opinions too. I bought a second set of rims for my TL & they have dynabeads installed; i was fairly skeptical when i read up on them. Mostly about how quickly they balance, how fast the wheel has to spin and leaning of the tire.

The guy i bought the rims from said his shop has used them for 2 yrs w/ great success. I'll let you know once spring rolls around.

Degsy - Care to share reasons why you don't like 'em?
