I currently have a Shoei I like it but I liked my Arai better, I have has icon helmets which i didn't care for, also have had HJC's which were just because I was broke they fit me better than the Icon I had, I have a Joe Rocket helmet too (for an extra helmet) its ok.

The fact that Shoeis can be discounted and Arai doesn't allow it (I read it on the internet, it MUST be true!) made me get a new leftover Shoei X-11 this year. The shape works for me, unfortunately the cheap(er) Shoei RF1000 or 1100 does not.
Enough said. ARAI all the way!!
rockin a shark right now. mite go with arai next lid, tried one this past summer and liked it
.:|LaRNZ|:.
Shark rsr2 ftw, i even got mine cheaper then Mr Duncan can get em for haha. Remember me? Anyone looking for a high end helmet MUST look at sharks. If it fits your head then there perfect. The shield is so thick at 3mm u dont even need a tinted visor.
I like my arai's for the oval round type. I know GBM and riverside didn't have helmet for an oval round... might benefit to see whathey stock and compare what you have and at least stock 1 helmet for comparison sake they they dont ( like the oval round , which you did
as You know I stopped by the shop and was hoping you'd have the agv or shark as well, buthe arai quantum 2 was spot on, thanks!
I'm not in love with the scorpions especially the exo1000 that "pump" cheekpad worries me. no obvious way for any first responder to know how to release the air if for some reason they need to take the helmet off
if you had ( not sure if you did) had different cheeks pads for arais that would help fitting.
The way your wife did the helmet sizing was spot on, measure, try on let it sit for a bit, explained how a helmet should fit and explained the types of head shapes arai made ( maybe a small chart or handout for people when they looked at the helmets would help, listin pros and cons, no fog shield.. etc..)

hmmmm......
Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9000/4.6.0.297 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)
We do have other pads as well.
Komaki has become quite the pro at fitting.
Thanks to evryone who has posted so far.
Our poll ends in a couple of days, then we'll draw one of the post numbers from a helmet to win something very cool.
I had an Arai Quantum shoved down my throat when I bought my bike.
It took them almost a half hour getting the correct pads in there for it to "fit" right.
I then bought a X11 Shoei and the second I had that on my head, I knew it was the right helmet for me.
It fit me perfectly ... no tight spots ... just nice even pressure all around.
I will be getting an X12 this summer if they can start making some bright solid colors.
BTW, I traded that Quantum for a pair of Dainese leather pants and never looked back.
The "cult" status of the Arai and the "we will make it fit" attitudes of just about every Arai salesperson out there really turns me off.
The Shoei, right off the shelf, in large fits just like it sucked my head in perfectly.
My X11 is 5 years old and will be retired this summer.
If loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning to ride would do.
once you narrow down what the top rated brands are I say find the model that fits you best out of that group. I wear Arai Vector but each model Arai fit differently and were different sizes
I really have a few helmets that I wear. I have a modular and full face HJC, an M2R, and a KBC. I can not afford the higher end helmets, so that is all I can do for now. And I don't know if I would be pertinent data for your store, as the KBC was my most expensive at $100.

Thank you to everyone who participated.
We're definitely keeping our Arai lineup and will be adding a full fitment stock of Shoei RF and X series helmets within 10 days.
As promised we drew numbers from everyone who participated in our thread and DBKromz wins. Jim come by to pick up a Motul oil change kit valued up to $50
You're missing out... I love the Shark and AGV. Had arai, and didn't think they were worth the mint I spent on them.
I have and a scorpion. 2 actually, the one Sheppo custom painted for me and a backup. That said, I tried on 6 fingered mans arai a week or two ago... holy shit. I'd never put a helmet like that on my head before. It's badass. Quiet, comfy, and just feels like absolute quality.
I don't ride on the street anymore, I'm track and dirt only. For track use, I am happy with my scorpion. They're priced very reasonably and from what I understand crash very well, which is the important part. They also fit my noggin, which is key. For a race helmet, I can't see spending the $ on arai. That said, if I were to start riding street again I'd buy an arai, since I figure I'd have to replace a street helmet less often and would wear it for longer periods of time.
20 minutes at a time, know ima bin it? Scorpion. Long rides, and likely a whole lot before I bin it? Arai. My next helmet will likely be another scorpion (assuming Duck can still sell them, since he's my paint man) but after feeling an arai that fits I feel that's the better helmet.
Then again, I'm a novice, so none of this matters, right?
I had an SHOEI RF 1000 last year, crashed in it and not a scratch on it. Bought a new Shoei RF 1100 this year because it replaced the 1k's. Eventually want to get an Arai Corsair V Jolly Roger but I love the Shoei, great graphics, comfy, SUPER easy to change out the shields too
2010 tC
no bike
Shoei X-11 here, it fits my nugget, and the venting is great. Oh yea, and switching shields is easier than buckling it, seriously, you could switch shields at a light if you wanted to.

X-11 here too, grabbed it when the X-12 came out and prices dropped
Lots of air and very comfortable
I wanted a new, 2010 DOT helmet and after a lot of research and thought, I bought the new Arai RX-Q. AWESOME HELMET, everything they say.
"Buy the best and cry only once"
Ive crashed two helmets. Both were Arai Corsair RX7s. Once was a highside in turn 4. I got booted off the bike came down on my head and shoulder. Got my bell rung a little but was good to race about an hour later on a different bike bike Second time I came into turn 1 a little too hot being a bit ambitious. Took the oval clipped a cone and got booted. Bike came down on me and followed me into the tire wall. I remember seeing the tires get really big really fast as my face impacted them. Another wrecked helmet but a fully functional head
Just replaced that one with a Corsair V. Unless there is some giant leap in helmet technology from a different manufacturer Arai is the only one Ill wear.
Highside helmet
The turn 1 helmet looks almost new except for a chunk taken out of the crown.
