How much did the vinyl run you if you don't mind me asking..
$350, but basically I sent him an email with two image files and dropped the tank off a couple of days later and spent 5 minutes talking with Paul about the layout.
The process was made more difficult by the fact that he only had a 12" wide roll of red reflective vinyl, so there was no way he was going to get the rising sun cut out in one piece. Instead, he had to cut each individual ray out and lay it on the tank by hand, plus cut the ray around the kanji and cut the kanji itself.
You can check out some of his work at www.signlogics.com
...which reminds me, I have to email Paul some pictures.
I love the tank and how it looks. I'm not a big fan of the Japanese writing. What does it say anyway?
It says "Kamikaze"
One of my customers jokingly said, "You should call it 'Divine Wind,'" and I really fell in love with the idea.
When it was yellow, I had the characters on the sides of the tank, but when I had it repainted white, I had to replace the characters. I was searching ebay for decals when I saw the Japanese flag and I thought about the Mitsubishi Zero fighter. That's when the theme struck me.
I was originally just going to replace the gas cap with a red one (like the regular Japanese flag's red sun on a white field), but I talked with a few of my artistic friends and they agreed that the imperial Japanese flag with the rays would make a bolder impression. I thought it's either going to be obnoxious or it's going to look great, so I had it done in vinyl so it could be removed if I decided I didn't like it.
I am submitting a request for KMKZE as a vanity plate this winter.
Also, I got an email back from Paul at Sign Logics -- he's going to use one of my pictures on his website!
Popped her out of the screen room for a quick run and some pictures. Last night I recovered the passenger seat with white vinyl.

She needs a bath, a wax, and apparently the chain lube I put on before storage wasn't enough, so I need a new, new chain (D'oh!)
The more I look at it, the more I feel like it needs a red gas cap.
Last weekend I took the bike to Washington DC to take pictures with the cherry blossoms.
Yes, I rode solo from Acton to DC in a day and rode back the next.
Here's some of my favorite pictures from that trip:

Bumping an old thread to show the new belly pan I did myself. Also, the exhaust wrap in the style of a katana handle.
Sweet Jesus, get some front brake lines already.
Red?
Whatever blows your skirt up, just get rid of that stock crap.
I still run stock crap on the track. Works ok haha.
