    NTEC 211GP vs 211GPA

I'm thinking of switching to Dunlop this year but have a few questions for you all who run them. What's the difference between the UK NTEC 211 and the US 211GPA? price difference? are the 209s really that much of a drop off? I've done a few sessions on them on friends bikes and had no issues but they weren't at NHMS.

Most of the Fast guys run Ntec's and the GPA's were not as good and they would tear or shred very easy....and find some one to buy Takeoff's for the first season and save some coin....but yea Ntec's are really the Bomb

The difference is about 3 seconds a lap...no matter what your pace. Those non UK tires just sap confidence IMO. YMMV. The UK tires are expensive, and hard to come by til you make a name for yourself. If you want my advice run Pirellis for your first few seasons. Race tires for dummies. Seriously easy to ride, and still have good potential.

that's the other way I was leaning. been on Pirellis for the last couple years so I very well could just stay on them.

    Re: NTEC 211GP vs 211GPA

Jeff Wood rode the D211GPA at Loudon and did 12's on them. He raced on them to get a feel and test them for the weekend before he did his first AMA event of 2010 as the D211GPA is/was the AMA Spec tire.

The D209GPA is a decent starting point. They are priced right and work good up to a certain pace. The D211GPA is a big improvement over the D209 and is cheaper than the UK D211 NTEC. They are built on the same design, but made in Buffalo NY USA vs the UK tire made in England.

D211GPA is about 1 sec off the UK version and the only noticable difference at the top level is a bit less side grip than the UK D211 NTEC.

Also, I was told by the top of Dunlop brass that the new US D211 will be a big improvement over last years AMA spec product. I was told they feel they made a big step forward with the Spec D211 US Tires and they will be that much closer to the UK tire for this season.

Those are the one's that are in the trackbike I bought. The guy I bought it from loves them? How did you like them in your friends?

I found the feel a lot different. But I don't run them regularly, or even race anymore, so It's just my first impression. I tried them on one of your old bikes Scott! I actually rode it a lot of miles in 09.

I only did a few sessions at a couple different tracks but I had no issues with them at all. They definitely have a much harder carcass to them than the Pirellis I run but grip was still good.

    Re: NTEC 211GP vs 211GPA

Ill be riding the GPA at least the first weekend. I talked to Jeff and to Dunlop. Both said about 1/2 sec a lap difference between the GP and the GPA and its something only the fast guys will get out of it. Im not a fast guy and the GPA is about 125 less a set. If I find I dont like them Ill swap to the ntec rear first.
