There both exactly the same from triple tree to the top of the fork, there dead on. I don't even know if it did this before we took the forks out so. Anyone think it could be inside the steering head?
Listen to what was already said before you complicate it more than you need to. You didn't damage the bearings or triples sliding the forks out. Take the wheel off. Slide the axle in without the wheel. It should slide in easily and you should be able to spin it pretty easy without it binding. If it doesn't loosen one fork l slightly, move it up or down until the axle is free and smooth then tighten it down. Check the axle again to make sure the fork didn't slide in the process of tightening.Originally Posted by bluej511

Has it been crashed?
How are you measuring the forks?
You could be talking 1 mm to high and 1mm to low on each fork.... you'd never pick that up with a tape measure....Measuring off the tripples isn't the best way to do it....

Eric he did wheelies with it which is why at 4000mi it needed fork seals and it was repoed. Ill take the wheel and see if the axle slides in and out easy without the wheel.
Ok so took the front end apart and lifted the bike up by the triple tree. The axle slides in and out smoothly theres no binding or anything. Its a little bit harder to line it up with the wheel on though but it still goes thru smoothly.
The tire pressure was at about 22psi and the front tire looks like shit so idk if that could be it. Other then that i retorqued everything and lined everything back up and it does the same thing.
If I were you, I'd take the whole bike to PK to have him measure it.
(Take it nekkid and it will cost less than if it has the plastics on it.)

Well its not mine, friend of mine bough it after crashing his R6. Doesn't seem like he looked it over much but idk he def doesnt have money to have the whole thing looked over.
hessogood positive? It wobbles when i take my hands off the handlebars, besides that the thing rides smooth as hell.

haha Eric i know thats where i just took the blown seals to get fixed lol. I havent checked the front end though, id be more worried about bringing my bike down to get fixed instead of this one. I get a bit of headshake as well.

I'm with hessogood on this one. Bikes I've had in the past would develop the kind of shake you're talking about when the front tire needed to be replaced (cupped out).
New front tire, keep tire pressures where they're supposed to be (mid 30s or so) and that headshake will go away. Maybe. If not, well, you needed a new front tire anyway, and now you've got one.
Finally got my bike back up and running. Things rides straight as an arrow again. Thanks Peter for getting it all sorted out and working with my crazy drop-off and pickup hours.
