We are closing in on three weeks to go time....looking forward to getting back on the bike, shaking off the cobwebs and having some fun. Penguin is working on a number of new programs for 2014 and we hope to be making a couple big announcements in the coming weeks. In addition to the new stuff, we are committed to continuing to offer the most in depth and effective track instruction anywhere. Penguin is staffed with literally more than a dozen Championship winning Expert coaches who are available to provide the knowledge and insight that our students are looking for. At last count, the Penguin staff had nearly 200 LRRS championships. We want to put this experience to work for you!
Season Startup Success Tips
- You first couple times on the track are the best time to make changes in your riding. You still have some "rust" from the previous year and this is the best time to make changes in your riding. Starting new habits (fixing body position, using the brakes properly, etc..) is much easier at the start of the season.
- Motivate yourself! Set some goals for the season ad be specific. If it's a lap time you want or a corner you want to conquer, write it down. Ideally you set at least one track goal and one personal goal (for example, to get in shape to be able to ride 8 laps at 100%). Goals are the engines for success!
- Plan for success! Outline 3 steps that you need to take to acheive this goal. Give yourself a realistic time frame to accomplish your goal, and imagine yourself fulfilling it. Think about the benefits (satisfaction, beating rider "X") that you'll get and play out the accomplishment of the goal in your head in as much detail as you can. The more clearly you can see your success, the more likely it is you will get there.
- Commit yourself to writing things down. Taking a fwe minutes to evaluate your progress each day at the track will help you refocus on what you need to do and plan for your next day. The satisfaction derived from self improvement is something that drives many of us....
