The Penguin Olympics at Canaan? September 19-20 Poll!
UPDATE - We have got a date from Canaan - this will now be on September 26-27
Penguin is looking at putting on an event at this new racetrack in late September and would love to get feedback from everyone on NESR. I rode the course last month in both directions and it was fun. Right now it's small (under 1 mile), but there are plans to expand it by about 1/2 mile next spring. It's got pretty good runoff going counter clockwise, and going clockwise it looks good in most every corner but one (there is a wall outside one corner on the track). It also has a little mini sub-track designed for go kart racing (and perhaps supermoto/mini-moto) that is a blast on a dirt or supermoto bike.

Sept 19, 20 or Both?
We have dates tentatively set aside on September 19-20 (Saturday/Sunday). We can do either day or perhaps both. There are a bunch of things we can potentially do, including running the track CCW all day and then perhaps the last couple in the other direction just for spice. There is a potential to do some mini moto dirt track training, and even to have a mini-moto / pit bike session at the end of the day on the mini course. If we do the weekend, we could have a big BBQ Saturday night, perhaps a little music...just an overall good time. We're looking at doing some really cool filming with a drone that we'd give everyone some access to, and a bunch of other stuff. We've even considered a mini-olympics style
competition (fun stuff - no racing) if we do an overnight stay.
Motard Half Days - $125
If this event comes together, we are going to try something we have never done before - a half day rental on a motard bike. If you've ever wanted to try one of these bikes out, this venue is a fantastic place for them. Everyone who has rented one of these bikes has loved it, and so here is a chance to try it out for only $125 for a half day.
The facilities are pretty basic right now (think generators and canopies), but the time of year is great, it's a weekend, and we're thinking that the price would be pretty reasonable ($250 for 1 day or $450 for both). Max participation - 40 riders total split up among three groups. I think it has the potential to be a really good time. If anyone is interested in doing the 19th, 20th or both please let us know!
