    Formula 300 Updates & 500 Supersport Class

    Formula 300 Updates
In response to the new Yamaha R3, there have been a few modifications to the Formula 300 class. Note: there is a mistake in the rulebook, so the clarification is here.
    • Ninja 300's are now treated like Supersport Bikes (pipes, etc.. allowed)
    • Yamaha R3's are subject to Production Class rules
    • The KTM 390 is currently only legal for the 500 Supersport class (see below). There is a possibility that it will be allowed in Formula 300 with stock pipes and the AMA restrictors from the cup bikes installed. As soon as someone has a bike to test we will evaluate it.

    500 Supersport
LRRS is going to adopt the new Formula 500 class as per CCS rules. This class is designed around the Honda CBR500, Kawasaki EX500, Suzuki GS500, etc... This is also the perfect "bump up" class for those who ride in Formula 300, as these bikes will be much more competitive here than when they run against a motard bike. Now, riders on a 300 will have three classes they can run (two F300 classes and 500 Supersport).

    Kawasaki Ninja 300 Rental Deals
Anyone interested in racing one of these bikes next year can consider a Penguin bike. Here are the benefits:

•Transportation to and from the racetrack
•Consumables - Fuel and Tires included
    •All maintenance taken care of
•Mechanic to help you during the race weekend
•Simply arrive and drive - racing made easy!

The cost to rent a bike for a day is usually $250 (or $450 for a weekend), and most riders choose the $150 crash insurance. This makes the normal rental cost $4200 for a season of weekends. The normal cost would be $2800 for a season of Saturday rentals. Anyone who chooses a season rental can take advantage of the following rates:

•$1500 for a season of Saturday rentals (save$1300) and simply pay for parts in the event of a crash
•$2500 for a season of weekend rentals (save $1700) and pay for parts only in the event of a crash
•School or track days can be added on either package for $175/day (save $75 per additional day)

If you've ever wanted to try racing but don't want to deal with the hassle of bike preparation, transport, loading and maintenance, this could be just the ticket for you. Interested parties can email info@penguinracing.com.

I have standard (non cup) rc390 on deposit.

I'd be happy to work something out with you for testing.

Re: Formula 300 Updates & 500 Supersport Class

That bike is (for now) classified in 500 Supersport. We need to see if we can get ahold of the restrictors that they use in the AMA series. We want to take a stock bike and throw the restrictors in it, and then test it against a Ninja 300 and an R3. That should tell us a lot. Best case is that the restrictors would make it legal for Formula 300 and then you could yank them out (if that was easy to do) for the 500 supersport class. We'll see how it goes.
