Holy crap new transponders?

Just got the CCS newsletter thing & it headlines new transponders! Is this in LRRS also? I don't want to have to buy ANOTHER transpnder? Any info?? Westhold personal transponders what?

So for Loudon I keep my AMB while NJMP will require westhold? NJ always just issued transponders so I have to imagine that wont change (imagine=hope). Is there some sort of tech arms race going on? VHS vs Beta all over again?

pretty sure you'll either have to rent or buy a Westhold one for NJ

CCS had these awful POS transponders that they used in the past but they were free to use (big, wonky yellow things). LRRS will not be using CCS new transponders...I am sure we will continue to use the AMB stuff we used last year (and years past)

NJ, I have no idea, but I would assume they will continue with AMB as they have there own program similar to LRRS (of owning and running their own racing series that is only affiliated with CCS-is not owned by CCS.) and NJ does not use the CCS transponders.

OK good. NJ just issues you a transponder so thats fine. I just didn't want to eat a loss on my amb that I just bought.

Unfortunately, this was the case up until this coing year. CCS itself is going to be running the races at NJMP next year (this is why there are only 3 dates at NJMP for 2012). Kevin told me that you can rent the Westhold ones for $25 for the weekend, or buy them for $80, and they last 3 years (non-replaceable batteries I guess).

i spoke to someone over at Westhold, and the CCS events can use any of their 3 models. the $80 one is a "throw away" model where the battery lasts for 3 years. there's a $140 rechargable model that's very similiar to the AMB ones we use now for LRRS. And they have a $150 wired model.
