    Homestead February 10-12

We had a number of racers come down for February's Homestead event. The weather was perfect, the racing was good and everyone had a good time. Since the AMA announced that they are racing there next season, we had a couple Factory support teams (Geoff May on the factory Buell 1190R and three Vesrah Suzuki riders Cory West, Jake Lewis and Benny Solis) in attendance and it made for some great spectating. Geoff May managed to break the track record that Jeff Wood set back in February 2009.....but Jeff is working on a deal to ride a 1198R in February to see if he can get it back!

    February 10th
The school precedes the CCS opener on Feb 11-12 and serves as a great place to get the season started. The weather in Miami is still averages highs in the 70's every day that time a year - a nice break from the New England winter. There were a number of riders interested in coming down for December, but a few guys had trouble coming up with rides. If anyone wants to try to make this event, lets get the communucation going early and we can have a nice contingent of New England guys down there in 10 weeks or so!

The Celtic deal was out there, but we needed a bunch of guys to make it work. There are a couple other guys who I think can make it work with a smaller number of riders. I'll try to get information together over the course of the next week or so.

Steve Aspland is interested is doing something. In order to make it work he needs 5 guys at $300/bike for the round trip. He has room for up to 9 bikes. Any interested parties please let me know and we'll put something together.

This is a fun place to ride if you have not been there. Loudon guys tend to do well because we know how to brake!

do you know if steve has had enough inquiries to do the $300 round trip bike thing. also could he fit basic gear and rains too. im talking with another racer looking to go down to homestead and we are pricing out plane tickets nwo as you know they only get more expensive the closer we get.

Right now there is one person biting. You guys would make two more. I think that to get another couple guys is certainly doable. Your LRRS license is everything that you need to race down there. I'm sure that Steve can throw in basic gear for each rider as well.

We have one more person looking for a ride right now....so if you are all in that would make four. Let me know if you guys are in a position to commit.

Hey guys, Just reaching out to let you know that I am working on making the trip down with Roger Ealy JR and SR, with possibly one or two more. Just wanted to reach out to see how many LRRS guys we can get down there to support Penguin and have a hell of a good time. I never been , but cant wait to spread the Ducs wings.

We stay at the Fairway Inn, Florida City. They have a buy 2 nights, get one free deal going on. Not the Ritz - but convenient to the track. Entries go to Henry Degouw (Florida entry form is on the ccsracing.us site). Check only - no credit cards are taken down there. Practice Saturday is $100, race entries are $65 each.

I look forward to seeing you down there. Henry will usually put guys from the Northeast in the garage 12, which is next to us (all garages are free - but assigned). Gearing advice to start if you set your bike up for the top of 5th gear at NHMS - drop 2 teeth in the back. The straight at Homestead is about 7-8 mph faster than Loudon.

I'm reading CCS changes for transponders in 2012. Will the AMB ones that the LRRS riders bought work there?

Yes, your LRRS transponders will work in Florida - I talked to them only a couple days ago about that.

That's not a problem.....we do a very detailed track walk on Friday - you'll know exactly where to go and why. We've been going there since 1996 and have a lot a laps around that place.....you'll be good.

Damn this is tempting. A LOT of things would have to line up for me to do it though. Will Penguin be visiting any other places before the April LRRS opener?
