So we tried something new this past weekend, offering an advanced course to riders during TPM's track day. We purposely made it very cheap and kept the class size small to make sure that we could do a good job with the students that we had while getting the feel for how this program would work. We got a lot of good feedback from the guys that we had and will make some tweaks to the program to take the program a step further when we go back in September.
The racing was good, but it reminded me of what sometimes happens in Turn 1A at Loudon when the weather is cold. Since NJMP is such a dominant RH track, there were a ton a crashes in turn three (and several others in turn 7 and 11 - the other two lefts of the track). Even though it worked up to 60 degrees in the afternoon, the strong wind seemed to really cool tires off - and the longer the race the worse it seemed to get. The races ran pretty smoothly, but I think that racers need to communicate to the officials to try to hold us for less time on the starting grid - you got to see the results with the first expert race on Saturday that claimed 2-3 riders after the tires cooled off a little too much.
