I know it's not Penguin but...
What's the word on the hand guards? Are they coming out soon? I have a set ordered up and was hoping be able to get them mounted up for the last round. No big deal, just wondering.
Thanks,
Tim
You will alsolutely have them for the last round. They are going to look nice.....
Thanks for your patience...and you can ask about this stuff anytime.
Timmy where do you pit cause I'm coming to check these out (and put a face to a name)?

Sweet! I meant to ask last weekend but forgot.
yup, north garage #2, come on over. no worries, I can't remember everyone either.
GOT 'EM!
Now I just have cut down the extra on my throttle tube to get them mounted up.
I would use longer bars as opposed to cutting down your throttle tube....but the choice is yours.
I have grip where I want it and there's a little bit of throttle tube sticking out. If I cut it I'll have enough to mount the guards.
Still vote for longer bar? I guess cutting is none reversible.
Just ordered up the longer bars. Makes more sense. Thanks!
Pics please.

Might be interested in these as well. Planning on changing out the throttle assembly and kill switch/start button pod on the SV and swapping it for a Motion Pro, if they can make one for a 1st gen with stock carbs and a 2nd gen pod (need to rewire the plug though).
I'm on the road until Tuesday, but I'll try to post something when I get back. They got a lot of good comments when I rolled the bike through tech with them on .... all the tech guys had stories within the past year about someone they knew that either lost a pinky sliding or had a brake lever accidentally applied. We had one at LRRS last weekend - someone flipped over halfway to turn one when a front brake got bumped by someone else.
The final parts came out well....we're tossing around the silly idea of making colored plastic guards....red/blue/green etc. We'll see. Most people who get these are likely to want to get longer bars as well, which we have in stock. You need 0.675 of bar length to clamp these on to. We're working on getting the patent finished up in the winter months....which is always fun. :p

Well, my T3 crash saw the end of the right bar hitting down between my ring and pink fingers of my right hand and my ring finger was sore for days.
I'll bet this could've been avoided with the use of the guards.
I think I'm gonna buy these over the winter. I think in my crash at the beginning of the year the brake lever or bar went between my pinky and ring finger and hit the ground. I only had a small bruise and tiny bit of swelling but the pinky/ring bridge on my gloves was worn through and partially torn off.

Here you go Chipper.
I bought these because last year someone passed me on the out side in t6 and hit my brake lever as they went by. I ended up in the gravel. I couldn't figure out what they hit or why it shook my bike so bad until the next morning in practice. My brake lever was bent forward so much I had to come in.
I ended up cutting a small amount off my throttle tube to get the guard in a bit more. I still have a small amount sticking out of the grip so I should not have any binding issues. I have about zero patience when it come to waiting for stuff to come in. That, plus nothing else I feel like doing around the house at the moment.
I should throw in that I got a call from Woodcraft before they shipped warning me in great detail that I may need new bars and to read the instructions.
so is that with the regular length bars?

Regular length bars.
BUT there is ZERO extra bar. The bars were already out as far as they could go for clearance of my gauge cluster. With that, there was maybe 10mm hanging out the end of the throttle tube. I cut off just a small amount of the throttle tube so the guards would have enough to clamp onto and not bind the throttle.
cool. i've almost ground through my bark busters, so something is going to replace them. these are pretty sharp. strong work woodcraft.

Shoot Rossi's crash at Motegi was a brake lever issue.
I want one! (guard, not a crash at Motegi)
If you have shorty levers, you are less likely to have your brake lever bumped. However, most guys I know do not use them. I like having full length for when I really need extra force and have freedom to play with the place that I grab the lever if I need it. It's not right or wrong, but just personal preference.
Either way, they will help to protect your hands in a fall. Nothing can guarantee to save every situation, but these will definitely help.
Required in MotoGP this year.
