note to self: cops in Boylston are likely to be a bit sensitive where bikes are concerned, scrupulously obey posted speed limits there...

No doubt...

I hope that cop recovers in a timely fashion; but he obviously was driving above his ability level/the level that was safe on a public road and was likely just as much a threat to traffic (if not more) than the 2 knuckleheads he was chasing...

That's really close to my house...I got pulled over last week on 70 in West bolyston for 50 in a 40 after coming out of a 50 zone..Cops are already all over that area, now it will be ultra hardcore....note to self, avoid the area like the plague...

So much for those rules against high-speed pursuit!

I guess a Crown Vic can't outrun a bike.

Two things that I get frustrated about with police:

They aren't much good with firearms or high-speed driving tactics (although some are)

Really, for the most part they don't get much driver training and firearms training is usually limited to a couple days each year practicing on a static range.

Yet they're job demands that they turn it on when needed, and do it expertly. It's too bad.

And yeah, I too thought they put a squash on pretty much all high-speed pursuits ?! Somthin' about statistics show...

Very good point! They should know when to back off.

I took the MA Basic Pistol course and the instructor of the course, also helps to certify Police officers. He told us most officers only take there guns out twice a year. Once to practice and once to qualify and that the average hit rate for officers is 19%. So 1 out of every 5 bullets hits the intended target. Where do the other 13 in the gun go?

some do take the time to get real training.

btw: they don't get training for couple days each year, that would be there qualification. qualifying is not the same as receiving competent training.

"aren't much good with firearms"
scary and dangerous would be a better description.

or if your an instructor "dwc" would cover it just fine.
