good news for Tamworth track

"Motorsports Club

TAMWORTH, N.H. (AP) — State environmental officials have declined to revoke a wetlands permit granted in July to a firm hoping to build a motorsports park in Tamworth.

Project opponents appealed the permit. But a ruling contained in a letter dated Tuesday said the group didn’t provide enough new information to justify changing the permit decision.

The $28 million project would include a more than three-mile road course for cars and motorcycles.

Residents have raised noise and environmental concerns in opposing the construction.

The developer has proposed building the facility in Tamworth just off Route 25 near the Ossipee town line. The wetlands permit is one of several the developer needs.

Company officials said they’re working with the state and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on other permits.

I spoke with one of the investors for this whole idea at a BMW Club event, he is a fellow BMW Club Instructor.

Their main goal, (according to this guy anyway), is to make the track an "auto racing country club", where "members" get the majority of the track time. How it works is, you pay BIG coin for a membership (I asked what the cheapest one was, its the "Bronze" level - $5,000 a year for about 15 free track days, and a reduced fee thereafter), and you get to run at the track. He said they intend to rent the track out for a while until they can afford not to.

I didn't actually know they were going to let bikes on the track, but I hope they do - they didn't scrimp with track design, etc. - should be a good long, highspeed track with some good facilities on site.

They are letting bikes on the track! NESR already has a track day reserved next August and I heard Penguin will be reserving many days. So I assume that other motorcycle clubs will rent the track too.

And don't count your Turkeys before they hatch....
It won't be another year or two if that track becomes a reality.
Remember someone said it would be ready by this August????
A bunch of smoke blown up many peeps asses...
Seeing is believing, and I hope no one has put any $$$ towards this so called trackday yet....

BTW what happened to that "New" track in Penn that LRRS was supposed to alternate their races at? See what I mean?

They should have kept Bridgehampton alive.....

I think next year is highly optimistic also...

www.TonysTrackDays.com will also be hosting at least one event there when they do open.

Another track would be great for New England.

Thanks, just thanks.

If anyone of the very few people who still have deposits with me for the "so called trackday" at Tamworth next year (that we have all been reliably informed by Mark will not be happening) wants a refund, please let me know.

I would like nothing better than to wash my hands of the whole thing as far as it being my responsibility to NESR to try to make it happen.

I still have the day booked
I own the day and I'm keeping it
I will sell it to the Porsche owners club or someone else and double my money with ease OR I'll swing on over to ODFU with 20 days to go and fill it in about an hour.

Glad to have so much optimism. Remember, to accumulate, you must first speculate. If this track is to be built, they need people to book it in advance, buy memberships etc. It's the people who stand back and say "I'll buy in when it's built" who didn't help to make it happen and they may just find themselves without the opportunity to try it whether there are places open or not for next year's trackday.

the wetlands permit is the hardest one to get, the rest will fall into place quickly. I think we will see construction over the winter for spring opening date

This is not aimed at Degsy....
Just seen way too many things that look good never become a reality.....

If they are counting on our money to open the track, I hope there are good returns on your money invested....
I could be earning interest somewhere else instead of letting my money sit stagnant. The government does this already to us.
So IF and when this track is built, I will then look into giving my money to them....

AAAh yes Mark..Bridgehampton..what an amazing place! Fokin tourists just had to have ANOTHER fokin golf course to play on. There's just not enough golf courses in NY, i mean really, they always need more golf courses don't they?

Yes...don't forget the blowing sand and deer running around,
and who's got the balls to hit turn one at full throttle....
Scott Major will chime in on this one....
Was a favorite stop for the AAMRR series, when I was young....
Was one of the oldest road courses in America....

And yeah, to have them build a friggen golf course....What a waste! Too bad most of the Racers today didn't get a chance to run at the "Bridge"....

Here is some history on "The Bridge"

TLRMan-
FWIW..My statement was not directed at you. I know that your comments were not directed at Derek. I was simply agreeing with Bryan, Jamie, et al. that my $$ can sit with Degs and be put towards the trackday...and if it doesn't work out ..so be it...then it will be contributed to NESR (or a different Trackday )....lord knows that I'm long over due...

Hey...no biggie....
I've just seen things like this never materialize, or take 3 times longer than specified.
