Anyone have experience with these? I heard a rumor they tweak forks...

Will someone please explain this?

If your forks are "tweaked" by using a front stand, tighten down your clamps!!

No to Handy, here's why: they are weak, as in you have to pull the tubes apart or close them up for different front set-ups. When you use them, they seem flimsy, easy to knock over.

A few racers I know have them, whenever I mention Handy they grip and grumble.

I don't have a set, you would prolly get better info from someone who does.

You would be better off with a head stand up front. I may have a "used" LP head stand if you're interested.

If you guys want the best stands, how about a group buy on Woodcraft? I can swing a deal on several front and rear stands, a total of 6 would be enough. Here's the link.

now thats ^ a saavy lady!

question... i want a head stock front stand... but... with my current fork/paddle type stand in conjunction with my rear stand, i can roll the bike for and aft (on a smooth floor)

can you do that with the head stock stand or will it collapse/fold from that hinge in the middle of it.

If you lift the bottom section slightly, yes, but you need to be really careful. The rear stands roll better than any other brand, almost like it's not even on a stand.

FWIW-I have several SETS of stands. My Woodcrafts are BY FAR the best I have or have ever used. They use FOUR wheels (4 inch wheels, I believe) per stand, and require very little lifting effort. You can adjust 'em so the front & rear lift the wheels off the ground the same distance. You CAN roll the bike around on the stands, but obviously some caution should be exercised. Incredibly stable and reasonably priced even without a group discount. I've said it over & over that I believe these to be summa the best out there...

Sure, Handys'll work. But there's really no prize for buying bargain stands. The few extra beans spent are worth the piece of mind, in my opinion...

And outta all the people I know that've used the Handy stands, I can only recall one or two that had anything good to say, other than the price...

I know a few people with the Handy's and they generally have no major complaints. You get what you pay for and for an occasional use, light duty stand, they're OK.
On another note, I have the Woodcraft front ender stem stand it is absolutely the dogs bollocks. Stable, low effort, brilliant. .
I also have an older style Pit Bull front end stem stand and it is absolutely the nicest made piece of shit i've ever owned . Takes a huge amount of effort and fiddling to get the bike up and I definately give it a thumbs down.
Cheers, Lee S.

I have the handy headstock stand....love it. Wouldn't touch the fork lift model though. I would recommend the headstock stand (regardless of make) over the standard fork lift. Much more useful for front end work.

OK Here is your pricing:
Retail / 15% off
Rear Pad Stand $130.00 $110.50
Rear Spool Stand $110.00 $93.50
Front Stand $160.00 $136.00
Front Stand Pin $10.00 $8.50
6&8mm Spools $18.00 $15.30
10mm Spools $25.00 $21.25

You don't need to buy full sets I just need at least 6 stands to make it work. You can save some money by picking up your stand at my shop, shipping is UPS OS1.. they rape you. Most sport bikes have provisions for the spool type stand and they are highly recommended. I can weld adapters on those that do not for a nominal fee. i.e. Honda CBR's. Eric Wood has spent a considerable amont of time designing stands that are sturdy, easy to lift (my 6 year old puts my race bike on the stand for me) and good looking. There are cheaper alternatives, but I won't sell them. They really are worth the money and you can buy new pins and spools for your next bike. Check out the web site for more details

www.woodcraft-cfm.com

He has all the details there.

Does Woodcraft have a stand for single sided swingarm bikes like my VFR or a Duc?

Isn't Woodcraft an NESR Racing sponsor? That is a good enough reason to support them!

Woodcraft does not currently have a stand for single sided swing arms. But when he does you can bet it will be the best.

I'm not terribly in need of anyway since I have a centerstand.

I'm not real confident about changing the front tire without stands though... I would like to be changing my own tires next year.

Peter, woodcraft's site says that one pin is included for the front stand! So if that is the case can we subtract the 8.50?
