Well I have some bad news. This is from Laura's family so it is not someone that I knew personally but I know his brother well.

Over this past weekend Adam and his wife Tera were out on his cruiser enjoying the beautiful weather. They were making a left hand turn at a stop sign when an 18 year old kid blew the stop sign. The bike burst into flames. Adam died and Tera is still in serious condition. Keep her in your thoughts if you would. Thanks.

I know Adam's borther and his wife and their daughter very well.

Here's the story

Motorcycle fatality recent Montana transplant
By J.J. Huggins

ASHBURNHAM -- The man who died after crashing his motorcycle on Route 119 Saturday evening had recently moved back to Massachusetts from Montana with his wife, according to a family member.

Adam Goldsmith, 30, died after rescue crews rushed him to the hospital Saturday evening, according to a press release from the Ashburnham Police Department.

A LifeFlight crew transported Goldsmith's wife, Tera, 27, in a helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after the wreck, according to the press release.

Tera Goldsmith survived, and was listed in serious condition Monday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Adam and Tera Goldsmith moved to Sudbury from Bozeman, Mont. in February, according to Adam Goldsmith's great uncle, Timothy Sullivan, 80, of Woburn.

"Adam and his wife were here for work," Sullivan said during a telephone interview.

Sullivan, a retired Woburn police officer, said Adam Goldsmith's mother and father live in Sudbury. He said he did not know Adam Goldsmith very well because of their age difference.

Sullivan said the family is from the Woburn area.

The wreck occurred around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 119 and 101, when Adam Goldsmith's motorcycle collided with a white 1997 Chevrolet Blazer sport utility vehicle, according to the press release.

The impact did not injure the 18-year-old man driving the Chevrolet, according to the press release.

Witnesses told police the motorcycle instantly burst into flames after hitting the SUV, Ashburnham police Officer Wade Wright said at the scene, shortly after the wreck.

Route 119 is a state road, and a state trooper from the Accident Reconstruction Team also responded to investigate.

Wright and State Trooper John Jakubowski are still investigating the incident to determine the cause, according to the press release.

A woman who answered the telephone at the Goldsmith's residence in Sudbury Monday afternoon said the immediate family did not yet wish to comment on the accident.

My thoughts go out to the family. I never know what to say in situations like these, 'casue anything you say feels really meaningless and stupid. But with as many idiots driving SUV's it really makes me wonder if we've chosen the right pasttime.

Ugh...

sad.
very sad news.

Your prelude to the article makes it sound like the SUV hit them. The newspaper write up makes it sound like they hit the SUV...
In fact, you could go so far as to say the newspaper article almost makes it sound like it was the m/c fault...

That is my hometown. That intersection is an open large paved section. One of those intersections where you stop way up when coming to a stop to get onto 119 and most people turning onto 101 cut way into the oncoming lane since there really is no lane distinctions.

Very sad. RIP man.

it really sucks to hear about this shit when i'm just goin to get my first bike. people keep telling me how dangerous bikes are, and it seems half the people i know had a father or a close friend die on a bike.

That sucks. That intersection is 2 miles from my house and I did not hear a thing about that.
I feel for their families, that is sad.
