Vanson worth the $$?

You guys aren't making me feel too good about Vanson's in-store customer service.

Though I have a one-piece custom Vanson, I've decided I want a custom pair of Technical pants (I'm a goofy size) to go with my various other jackets. I'm about to move to Boston in 3 weeks and thought I'd just go down to the factory to get measured correctly. Now you guys are making me worry about the quality of customer service and lack of correct measuring. I'm not afraid to ask for a specific experienced person to tend to me - does anybody know the name of someone experienced there who can measure/fit me correctly?

Thanks,
Troy

I don't remember the name of the girl that measured my suit but have never had a problem with service. Have always been greeted nicely and had any help I've needed when they're not tied up with another customer.

Vanson worth the $$?

I'm sure they have some very competent employees... just didn't have any there on Sat... I should have called ahead... I just never imagined the "stock" service would be that bad...

PS-
Thanks for the info, Degsy

Vanson worth the $$?

I know 2 friends who had custom Vanson suits done. It took a minimum of 3 trips each to get them right. Some of the "alterations" weren't even close . I've owned Vanson, Dainese, Spidi, Fieldsheer, and Zero-60 leathers. My Vansons never really felt comfy, even after 4 or so years on the street. Also, both of my wrist zippers broke and had to be replaced. The Dainese' were flashy, but the zippers were chinsy and the colour came off the leather rather easily. The armour was outstanding, though.
Right now I have a Spidi 2 piece for the street. Zippers also not the best and the jacket armor moves a bit too much for track work. I ride like a giant Pansy on the street these days, though, so they'll do fine. My current race suit is a Zero-60 which I bought at the national a year or so ago. The spec of the suit looked good and it has a lot of features (aero hump, removable liner, perfs, decent armor, etc). After my little, ahem, "incident" in the bowl last race weekend, other than tearing a little of the vanity lettering on one arm, they're just scuffed a little and perfectly usable. I paid $320 for them.
Best thing to do is become an educated consumer. Look at the thickness of the leather. Is it double layered in the impact areas? Is it made from fewer, larger pieces of hide rather than more, smaller pieces? Are the zippers sturdy brass or wimpy nylon? Do we have double and triple stitched seams everywhere?
Most importantly, how does it fit on the bike (not standing in the showroom) ?
If you know what you're looking for you don't have to spend a mint for excellent protection.
Cheers, Lee S.
You don't

Vanson worth the $$?

I own 2 vanson jackets and one set of pants. Quality is A++++ but as of late the customer service that Vanson has been known for is right in the toilet. It used to be that if you were a repeat customer they would at least give you 15 percent off if you went to the store and bought something.

NO MORE deals just straight up ass rape.
