Yesterday makes me remember why I love this state soooooo much. I went to Chris' house and he couldn't ride cause of some fuctard coming to his house to fix his furnace. So I helped him with a house pen and went off on my own. Did 17 and it was decent but a bit of traffic (odd for a wed midday). Went through moretown

then took a bunch of ass backwards roads to meet Caleb (DistordedVision here) after he got outta work. Went back to chris' and to middlebury, to bolton then to DV's house.

The most interesting part was going up the Bolton access road (DVs girlfriend works up there) at about 8:45 pm. I know the road pretty well and had all the lights on so I was moving. I come around a turn atabout 65/70, look up and see this mass in the road. I get on the brakes and start to downbshift but I am not slowing fast enough. I get on the rear harder and harder and I get closer and closer and end up locking it up. DV comes around the turn to see me fishailing all over the place. I finally come to a stop (and I shit you not - caleb will atest to this) 7-10 FEET from a fuckin mommy moose and her two little ones. If I had to shit it woulda come out. It looks at me and I look at it - it takes a few steps away from me ...I did the same. I thought the bitch was gonna come at me. Caleb stops next to me and I throw my glove at him and scramble to get the camera outta my pocket. I got it out but couldn'tg et it outta the case in time. They hopped the fince and were gone into the darkness. I was still shaking when i got to the top. I thought for sure that I was either gonna hit em or she was gonna charge once I stoipped. I contemplated (for just a sec) to gun it past them cause I didn't think that I was gonna stop in time. Decided that wasn't a good idea

It was BY FAR the scariest experience on the bike so far.....

About 10 years ago my cousin was coming home from work at 2:30am (he was a bartender) and he hit the gullet under the chin of a moose with his head. He had on a helmet and didn't get hurt but had to sit on the side of the road for an hour because he was pretty shaken up.

I know another guy who hit a horse broadside that got out of it's pen. He got hurt pretty bad and the horse died. That was in the middle of the day on a shap corner.

I was thinking about this today as I was driving around at work and I realized what a cool experience...minus the almost wrecking into 3 moose. I've seen bulls and cows before and a couple up pretty close but this was the first time that I have ever seen babies. Not really knowing their birthing season I imagine that it wasn't too long ago so they were possibly just a couple of months old. That's pretty amazing and also added to the scare factor since mom was probably not too happy to see me so close.

Then I thought more and more about how damgerous a situation it was. 7-10 feet from a Cow moose standing about 6' at the shoulders with/protecting her two fairly fresh kiddos. Dangerous situation. Ultimately it turned out well and it was cool but the pucker factor was HUGE

Nikon - your ZRX looks pretty sweet. I love the bar setup with the mirrors.

Very tight!

thanks. They were made by a buddy of mine locally who has the same bike. They are actually mountain bike mirrors into machined barends.

Found this over at Mooselife.com/forums

The most interesting part was crossing over the Bolton access road at about 8:45 pm. I know the road pretty well and had the kids with me so the pace was slow. All of a sudden I look down the road and this red machine comes at us at about 65/70. I tell the kids to stay still so it doesn't hit us but it started to slow down, but not fast enough. It got on the rear brakes and locked it up. Then another one comes around the turn to see us all over the place. It finally come to a stop (and I shit you not - the kids will atest to this) 7-10 FEET from me and the kids. If I had to shit it woulda come out. This big ugly bald motherfucker steps off the machine and looks at me and I look at it - it takes a few steps away from me ...I did the same. I thought the bastard was gonna come at me. We hopped the fence and were gone into the darkness. I was still shaking when I got to the top. I thought for sure that it was either gonna hit us or the ugly dude was gonna charge if wei hung around. I contemplated (for just a sec) to charge it as it approached because I didn't think that it was gonna stop in time. Decided that wasn't a good idea. It was BY FAR the scariest experience on the trail so far.....
