Tire recommendations...

Ok,

I need tire recommendations and the SVRider.com search thing stinks, it's pretty hard to find stuff in the archives...

I seem to recall Randy is using Avon Azaro II's?

Randy, how are those compared to the stock Metzelers? I am starting to wear into the wear bar I think, and the traction & handling is getting really annoying.

Thanks,
Ben

Dealership is saying they have Dunlop 207s in stock and they seem to be popular right now.

Any thoughts on those?

Ben

well i got pirelli dragon evo's and their not too bad, but if that tire guy comes up to Stonnerstock i am gonna burn the rear and get a D207 cause i have heard a lot of good things about them. i also heard good stuff about the Bridgestone B010's.

dunlop 207s are highly regarded on the list...
as are bridgestone 010s... even more so than the 207s, i think. another popular choice is the 010 up front, and 020 behind. i think they give a bit more life than the avons...

not that it has anything to do with SV's but...

I have 010's on my Sprint, love 'em. I am also getting a set of 010's on the Daytona. Sean has a set of 010's on his Daytona and seems to like 'em fine. I say go for em.

see, I can post with out bastardizing

I have the BT010's on mine and I like them. When they get hot, they are like bubble gum. The M1's are really good too, but they don't last as long, from what I heard.

bt010'S OR THE 020rear/010front combo seems to be the top choice of sv riders on the sv list, I never tried them, and quite frankly, over 50% of the riders on the sv list don't have the experience to be aware of any difference,

tires I have run on my SV

Mezler MeZ4's I thought they were ok, but as they wear, they get waaay out of round, meaning flat center in rear (unless your constantly riding on twisties, in that case, they don't last long) cupping in front. also they take a long time to warm up on COLD pavement if you ride in winter Milage:rear low 2500, high 7500, average 5000/front low 4000, high 11000, average 8000

Dunlop D205's adequate cornering traction but lacking in breaking traction, rear locks up real easy, but they do last, I had 10k on a set when I took them off, and they still had another thousand or two left.

Pirelli MTR60, best rain tire you can buy, good cold weather choice, in hot weather they can get greasy once warmed up.

Milage: rear low 1500, high 5000 (with a watchful eye on pressure) average 2800/front low 4000, high 7500(again with a watchful eye on pressure) average 6000

Avon AzaroII (AV35 & AV36) cornering traction, adequate, the front has a good profile for stability in the corners, not the best wet tire but adequate (that opinion may be cause I get used to the Pirelli's)
what I like about these tires is they stay round better than any other tire I've tried
Milage: rear low 4000, high 6000/front low 6000, high 9000

You can't go wrong with 207s. They are getting to be old technology, but they are great all around street tires. The only complaint I have with the 207s is that they don't give the best feedback at full lean on the track-- Minor complaint.

I get 6000 miles on the rear, 8000 on the front with 42 lbs. R, 36 lbs. front on the VFR 800.

I plan on trying the Bridgestones next, just for a change.

I'm putting Metzeler M1 Sportecs on my MuZ for track days.
