ok, so i need new tires...suggestions?

I have Metzler SportTec M1's on my bike now (they were new on bike when i bought it). Put about 5k- 6k on them, and he tread is looking pretty shallow. so it looks like it's time for new a new set. The R6 had Pirrelli / Diablo's on it when it was stolen. They were nice, might get them again. Anyone have any suggestions for tires they really liked?

thanks in advance,
-sedition

Id say the powers or the diablo's, the tires on my bike now are pirelli dragon corsa's and if the diablo's are like these then i wouldnt hesitate to buy.I have ridden on the powers and i dont have a bad thing to say about em,cant go wrong either way.

Depends on whether you want miles or muscle. I will be on my second set of pilot powers since May this year on Saturday. The powers have plenty of muscle but the typical miles from a performance tire.

It all depends on if you like the way your bike handles now or not. The Pirelli's are more rounded and the Michelins are more pointy. I had the M1's on the Mille and now I have the Pilot powers. The powers make it a little sharper steering but the stability until full lean is a little unstable.

Just my $.02

The Pirellis and the Powers are pretty close in comparison as far as the shape of the tire. If your thinking more like the Pilot Sports than your right they are more pointy and dive in faster, they just dont have the grip the powers do. If you have run them both then you know how they handle between them, I am just going off how they look as for the pointyness.

The Pilot Sport has to be the roundest profile ever produced by Michelin.

What kind of mileage are most ppl seeing out of their Powers?

I have them on my SV, I think I have roughly 3K on them so far, they look good but the rear is ever so squared. They've been a great tire for me, very consistent perofrmance, good on the street & track, rode in the rain for a few hundred miles of backroads and hwy, bike was very stable & predictable.

I got exactly 3300 out of my rear, and thats with a Deals Gap trip. The front still looks good, most likely it will last till this rear is done! If not I have a nice new 65 profile to replace it with!
But I don't think I would have gotten a heck of a lot more just riding around here?

My Pilot Sports I was getting around 5K on the rear/ 10K on the front! But they do not stick like these babies!

I would have to guess you will be able to get 4K to 4500 with the Diablo's and only be a slight bit shy of the gription of the Powers.
BBHZX10 is getting the Diablo Corsa's mounted soon, I'll ask him what he thinks after a few rides/track days!

I got ~6500 miles out of the rear and the front still looks pretty good.

One does have to consider the load the tire will be expected to support when evaluating the range of a tire.

Consider the Conti Road Attack. Very good wear life and very sticky!

see, what i've read (and felt) is the exact opposite, the pointy tires will be unstable when going straight, but as soon as you lean it over, because of the triangular nature, it gives you more contact patch in full lean, hence more stability
