Stealth LEOS

Today I put my escort on the Gixxer after gettin burned in the clear up in Maine.

So musing on how come I didn't spot them first.

Literally 40 years ago when I first became a highway menace everyone drove cars. 9 of 10 vehicles were cars all about the same size. The "bubble gum machine" on top of patrol cars was 18 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter. You could should spot it sticking up 1/2 mile away at least.

Today the new strobe light bar looks like 3 inches and with its across profile it look like a roof rack. In addition now less then 1/2 the vehicles are simple cars. A LEO gets to hide without effort between the SUV's, pick ups and Mini-Vans all of which are taller then a crown vic.

Bottom line..

Get a radar detector won't save all but will save some.

Problem #1 - You're looking for crown vic's.

Every car listed above is LEO-capable. I still chuckle when I see the fockers that don't know getting popped by a windstar running laser on the side of the pike. Just the other day I got rolled on by a blue SVO mustang, as the dude went by I could see the MPH Ka gun on his dash. He had legal tint too - pretty ballsy.

Re: Stealth LEOS

On our way back from Canada yesterday, we were driving 91 South in vermont, there was this white car, not sure what make it was but looks like an intrepid or something, just like you say with very low profile lights on top of the car, all clear color (transparent), and when he passed us, maybe 200 feet away , I couldn't distinguish them anymore as being lights, it appeared like a regular roof rack, then a little bit further, I couldn't even see them at all anymore. It is becoming scarry to speed knowing that cops can be in any type of car now and get you good.

I didn't hear him whining, just lamenting the fact that he didn't spot them sooner. Whining is when you say things like "it's unfair".

Why don't you take your own advice and "STFU already".

Pretty soon their won't be any roof racks, they'll all be integrated into the cabins or rear deck. All LEDs, and no profile. It's getting to be a challenge.

+1 on speed limit. Or just go with the flow of traffic. I always observe the 10% rule: Don't go beyond 10% of the posted speed limit. Seems to work.

Any opinons on that, esp. from any officers on the board?

I have been passing in front of cops going just below 120km/h and the tolerate it, unless you get to pass an asshole cop. If you dare going over 120km/h...well do it at your own risks....Usually 115km/h on highway they won't pull you over.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the two "MAINE" based pisser & moaner posts on the forum when he was referring to the "whining" part.

You are still based in Massachusetts, right? They haven't all changed over to metric there yet, have they? Can we get some MPH's here for those of us still using the Imperial measurement system?

ri State Poopers have a 2005 black SS montecarlo, most RI troopers have the LED's that you can only see fron the rear, below the roof line

Geesh

We got stopped by an all black
Toyota Tundra with leds in the grill

He was cool though

Before thery were in it for the revenue they wanted a high profile police presents as a crime deterrent.

They would also ride up/down expressways as a pace car.

If you go the speed limit I think you need to join another forum
