bent plate warning for ya

got stopped yesterday in Adam or west of that area. can't remember exactly.

reason: bent plate
fine: verbal warning because it wasn't too bad. said he can't read it.

it was an excuse to check for license. said he will stop them all and if you don't have license you will get locked up and put his hand together to show me.

so - for all you bent up plate, don't go to that area. this cop siad and i quote "I will get them all" nodding his head. he went on .. the design of these spoiler illiminator is to HIDE the plate.

im not going there anymore.

btw - just paid the comcast bill and got my connection back.

That's kinda what I do. Ride when it's nice. Play X-Box when I can't ride. Won't be doing much riding for a while since my crash

Heh, talk about bogus... That's the same area where Brian and I got tickets last year... only we got them a bit further up the road. Did you get the trooper's name by any chance?

mine is set where the passengers pegs would be. it's not bent and easy to see.

although it gets dirty and is very hard to read.

my plate is in stock position but unreadable cause the scottoiler keeps it that way, and the continuous soaking of atf has worn the paint off the numbers.

ya think they's accuse me of installing a scottoiler to conceal my plate?

Bent plates only on machines with fender elminators, right?

Another reason to not install a fender eliminator IMO.

He was bullshitting. He knew damn well that any ticket he issued would have had no chance of holding up in court.

i made mine.

i have two plate lights in case one burns out and
dot directionals a little wider that the state requires.

btw: when i made mine there where no eliminators kit's available.

i might move it back, just to keep from being hassled.

90/23 Concealing identity of a mv - Criminal but no right of arrest

What other reason do people bend the plates then to make it hard for LEO to see? I don't see why it would be so hard to hold up. Plate needs to be visible from 60 ft....

and just a note on the taillight intergrator kits... you can get yo balls busted for those as well if someone so pleases...

"Rear turn signals shall be red or amber mounted on each side of the vertical center line at the same height and having a minimum horizontal separation distance (measured from center of lamps) of 9 inches."

Above is from 540cmr4.06.. and would be considered a defective equipment violation... Just an FYI for ya... I started looking all this stuff up once I got certified on the bike.... Figured I should know a little about it all etc...

Also a note about any other aftermarket blinkers, taillights etc... make sure they have an "SAE" symbol on them or that could be another cite...

"All lenses on stop lamps, tail lamps, turn signal lamps and reflectors must be approved by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and as evidence of such of approval indicate the symbol "SAE" on the lens."

A note on the license plates... from the same CMR:

"The number plate must be undamaged, securely mounted on the rear of the motorcycle, clean and clearly visible. No accessory mounted on the motorcycle may interfere with a clear view of the number plate. "

So if you think it's cool to mount the plate on the side swingarm etc... another cite... and whoever talked about something on the bike covering the plate... another cite... also since here it says undamged... there's another cite for the bent plate issue...

Links to the CMR concerning motorcycle inspections... what is actually suppossed to be checked when you get a sticker and what can be cited for as defective or safety etc if someone so pleases...

540 CMR 4.06a

540 CMR 4.06b

Well... now you know... and knowing is half the battle... yuck yuck...

Enjoy....

What are you a cop or somethin?

Hey your right in the next town, when are you on duty this week so I can get my Speedo calibrated?

I am probably one of the only guys on an RC51 that goes throught the town often. I go wash the bike at Fitzy's all the time. If you see the NESR stickers and Rainbow pipes be sure to get my attention! I dont think I've ever accually met you. I just hope you dont catch me doing anything wrong.. There are a couple of nice roads in town! I usually tend to ride civilly around my area, that town included! I used to live there and was followed home many times just because of the car I owned. They left me alone when they finally got to know me. Never did get a ticket there... but they have kept me in check since then! They did their job I guess!!!

Nice write up on the state regulations. Most cops dop not know or dont bother with enforcing them...

Thanks Mike.... The way I see it is I've found a way to incorporate a job I love with my hobby I love... so I want to be the best I can at it ya know

Mind you I'm not out looking for most of these things other then not being able to read plates... that bugs me... but they are all nice to know when needed

If you see an APD bike out with a 38 on the helmet that's me... stop and say hello!

I was running lidar on the bike last night... saw a few sportbikes... I always look for the NESR stickers... that's enough to be stopped right there!!! ya must be up to no good!

so the idiots that made these laws should be shot dead.

oh another thing. the plate is NOT bent or damage. the bracket mount is slanted. the plate is mount parallel to it.
