sooo, I got my "new" bike up and running...

an 82 gs 650, had been sitting for a while, but after some carb cleaning and general maint. it was running like a top. Got it registered and insured, and took it up to a friend's house in nh. Unfortunately, the rear hub (it's shaft drive) grenaded in the left lane of rt. 3 at about 90mph... locked up the rear wheel instantly and made for an interesting couple of seconds. Fortunately I got it off the road and stopped... time for some more wrenching I guess.

it was a bit of a scare in hindsight, but fortunately for me training, experience, reflexes, and luck were all on my side, and it really seemed pretty anticlimactic as it happened.

Anyway, I should have some time this wekend or next to swap the rear bits over from the parts bike...
