dropped it a couple times & crashed twice... neither time was bad, even though i was doin probably 70+ at VIR when I hit the ground. Both crashes were during unexpected off roading experiences.

Crash hard. Something about the front end of a mustang stuffing the gas going down the wrong side of the road...

3 breaks in the upper humerous
3 breaks in the tibial plateau
2 broken ribs

2 months in a wheelchair

9 months later... back on.

I dropped my bike once at slow speeds (I was stopped in my driveway) and one crash at the track. Both the drop in the driveway and the crash at the track happen on the same bike That's why the bike (R7) just sits in my basement now
I've seen a few street crashes and dirtriding get-offs, it's no fun seeing your close friends get hurt

Dumped it at slow speeds few enough times to count on one hand. But dont have enough road-time to have gotten myself in trouble yet, hopefully if I keep my head about me, that wont be for a good while.

If flipping a bike end for end 3 times is crashing hard, then I've crashed hard. (No it wasn't from stunting I missed a corner)
I've also crashed at slow speeds. Those covered bridges are slippery when wet.

Aside from some nasty wipeouts off an XR50, I've yet to crash a bike. In a sick way, I almost wish it would just happen so I'd have it done with. I'm like a June bride; I have something coming, but I dont know how bad its going to be or how long its going to last.

It's been a long time since I have crashed, but I have, the lasttime was about 60,000 miles ago, a low speed get off in wet conditions, making a left at a light it turned green, next thing I know, I'm sitting in the middle of the road, my bike is on it's side next to curb, broken shiter, only damage.

My only high speed getoff was 100,000 miles ago, in Roanoke VA on my way down to Deals Gap the first year I went I took off ramp /entrance to BRP a bit hot, I was what would have been a low side converted to high side as i slid into granite curb on edge, so I stood it up and took my chances in the grass, as soon as I hit the grass wet with morning dew, I went down ans sliding , for over 150 feet. I stopped sliding as i hit the pavement of the off ranp on the other side of the median, bike went a few feet further, duffel bag & saddlebags acted as frame slider, picket up some mud & grass stain on my Aerostitch, a small scratch on the trim ring of my headlamp

I been lucky, and have witnessed some horrific crashes almost all of them on Deals Gap trips

When you say witness a crash... how do you use that term, I've witnessed 4 pretty hard crashes (2 of them standing in the exact same spot at COT), I've been at the scene within seconds/minutes on a few more

Where to Begin?

I've crashed slow.....I've crashed fast
I've crashed on the streets
I've crashed on the track (slow and fast)
I've crashed and got to ride in an ambulance
I've needed surgery from crashes
......BUT in 2005 I have not yet crashed.....even at the track!
No, I did no just jinx myself, I'm just over it now.
No crashing for me in '05!
If you wanna start including dirt riding I can write you a novel.

No matter what, it always sux to crash.
It costs money, it hurts, sometimnes it hurts alot! You lose races.
Crashing just sux!

Speaking of, where's the "some moron on a bike hit me" option?

ive been riding for four years.

first year-on a friends gsxr 600 (first time ever on a bike) getting on the highway and got scared on the onramp, put my foot down and touched the front brake. no gear. minor cuts and bruises. totaled the bike (somehow i rode it home)

second year-on my gsxr 600 pulling second gear wheelies, came down in a patch of sand going 40. t-shirt, jeans and gloves. major road rash on right shoulder blade, right elbow, severly bruised hip (it turned purple and yellow and got hard as a rock) and concussion. five hours in the hospital, followed by the worst month of my life (cleaning road rash hurts like a bitch) and i still have the scars.

third year-on my 954. hit a raccon at 1030pm, going 50 (speed limit). full gear and bike had frame sliders. small scratch on elbow and cosmetic damage to bike (five minutes after the accident i was riding the bike home).

fourth year-i bought gear and learned how to ride. 12000 miles and no accidents.

do i have to say the moral of the story

Whoa, broken shiter? I had a broken shiter once... jiggled the handle and it fixed itself

Hmmmm... crashes.

Yep, I've dropped bikes... I was lucky enough to only drop my bikes (dropping a buddie's bike is hard on a friendship). Was also lucky to not have an audience, but given that I was doing this fruity running jump-mount I felt like an A-class moron

Street:
Couple uneventful lowsides... but the one on the 96th St West Side Highway offramp in NYC was nice... Frickin' cabbie came railing around the corner about 30 seconds after I did my slide and almost ran my bike over. Swerved (in my direction, I might add), shot me a nasty look and kept right on going... he didn't even have a fare in the car. Thanks, buddy

MX:
Too many to list. The words "rag doll" immediately come to mind. Dirt is much more forgiving... trees, not so much.

I have had a bunch of little ones and crashed hard a few times.

I have seen a bunch of people crash. 3 died on impact, one died while we waited for the fire brigade. One of the deaths was by decapitation (?sp) Most of the crashes everyone was fine.

Highsided my Rex HARD. Bike went 60 feet down the road into a ditch, I went 30 or so down the road into the opposite ditch. All tumble head-over-ass, no sliding. I knew what I did that was wrong. Rider error.

Lowsided lightly in February on snow/ice. Got up, drove it home. Gear is good.

Been cut-off a million times. Seen people go down. Been almost hit by both bikes and cagers.
