Got pulled over last week on my way to work, wondering if my story is worth bringing to court. Let me start off by saying that I was caught doing 83 in a 50 or 55 in Barnstead NH on Rt. 28. This is the first offense that I have been charged with on the bike, I've been riding for 4 years now. What happend was I was the 3rd one in line following a volvo s70 with a caravan leading the convoy. The van had been doing baerly the speed limit at best for a while when the passing zone by, I belive its, JJ Goodwins came up. The Volvo was thinking the same thing I was and pulled out to pass, and I followed. The volvo pulled back into traffic leaving no room for me. This is where fight or flight comes into play and I wasnt going to be winnng against any on comming traffic. I saw the officer when I was still in the left lane, you can fill in the rest from there.
On a side note I pulled over as soon as I saw the blues, I find they go eaiser on you when you do this. This time the Volvo follwoed me, the cop cut him loose . Anybody think I have any sort of chance winning this one or at least getting a lesser charge. Open to suggestions or advice.

You may want to copy your post, if its your style and send it to the judge.

While I feel the man will stick it to you, the law has provisions (judge's disgression) to "place this on file" or let you go.

Personally, the judge may be impressed if you flip - the honor/honesty card.

who stopped you state or town (btw, that's one place I almost always stay in my lane with traffic for the reason you have discovered)

the speed limit is 55 there so they got you for more than 25 over..... they didn't cut you any slack, driving record, riding record, it's all the same, I just read an article a few days ago about some heafty fine increases.

every time I pull out to pass on that stretch, the cars your are passing speed up, then you you end up getting hung out there or going a zillion mph to pass the string

there was a time that Barnstead Selectmen forbade the local PD from patoling 28, they said it was the state's job, there are plenty of town roads to patrol, that has changed, and patroling has been heavy lately, didn't somebody mentionsomething about justifying some federal funding

do you have a "must appear" ticket ? where is court, Laconia?

Give them the story maybe they will settle for less.

The speed limit is the limit there are no exceptions for passing

The Volvo shutting the door is a good one

If its convenient fight every ticket

It is not a must appear ticket, at least I dont think it is the officer said I could just send it in to pay the fine. And yes, I will be taking a trip up to the lovley town of Laconia and taking a tour of the local court house.
