Where can I get some good every-day riding leathers?

I guess just by asking this question, I'm admitting ive been riding for 3 years in just a sweatshirt, jeans, gloves and boots. But all these accidents ive been hearing about lately have trulely inspired me to go buy a $500 helmet ( and get rid of my hjc) and a nice set of leathers to wear while riding.

Cycles 128 is near my house, but seems kind of expensive.. anyone have any brand and/or store advice for me?

I've got some $$ saved, and id really like to get a nice setup for myself.. I'm worth it.

Thanks in advance.

If you want to use it every day, and want something that breathes well and is good in hot weather, I'd consider Motoport Kevlar.

Very strong, they claim better than leather, who knows...? Tons of testimonials from racers going down at high speeds with leather-like performance. Breathes well, great custom fit, on par with Vanson for cost.

I went with it because I wanted to have every day protection that would work for street riding, sport touring and track days. So far I am convinced I made the right decision.

I hear MM is super expensive. People say, try on the gear there and then buy online.

I've got a Motoport Kevlar jacket and a one piece suit from them. Definately the way to go for your average day to day riding. All the protection of leather with less weight and they're machine washable! Not to mention I'll actually wear the jacket on these 90+ days because it's not much worse than wearing an extra tshirt. If I had to wear my leather on any of these hot days it'd stay in the closet because of the extra heat. And what good is a jacket if you're not gonna wear it? I do own two leather jackets that I wear more in the fall/winter (unless I just choose to wear a sweatshirt under the kevlar). If you insist on leather Heine Gerike (sp?) is the way to go. Much better than Vanson and definately a better day to day jacket with excellent customer service.

Go to Motrace.com and get there phoe number and then call and talk to DAVE. He can make you some amazing deals if he still has the IXS gear in stock.

Nice to hear someone else is running the Motoport Kevlar with good results. I couldn't imagine wearing leather for stop & go city riding over the past few days with the high temps and humidity. Even the Kevlar was just bearable.

Get a rev'it jacket at motomarket. They make some great leather casual-looking every-day type jackets, and it's rather affordable, like $270 or so. Or get a rev'it air-flow mesh jacket (I have one), it's $230 - one of the best purchases I've made. It's definitely the jacket that gets most use from my gear closet... and I'm a major gear whore.

I'm with you Andrew.. in the heat of summer the Motoport Kevlars are the only way to go in my opinion.
