I lost the only key I have to my bike. At least the bike is in the garage, but it's in the locked position. So what's the SOP in this situation? Do I call a locksmith and try to get a new key made?

Either that or you got yourself a new paperweight!

I don't know how new your bike is, but if you boutght it new you can call the dealer, they may have kept on record your key number. Also, some manufacturers they can look up the key code by the VIN. Good Luck

Well, looks like you're not riding this weekend...

Call the dealer and see what they recommend. Some dealers keep a copy of the key, or key code in the bike folder just in case (key loss, repo, etc.). At worst they will run the VIN back to find out the code.

Regardless of how the key gets replaced they will want to see proof of ownership. Have the title or registration handy. do yourself a favor--- Get two keys this time... Good Luck..

one of my 920's had no key when i bought it, I was able to unbolt the helmet/trunk lock and bring it to a locksmith..... but luckily is was in an unlock position... and that's the only reason I was able to unbolt it

Well I am the third owner of said motorcycle and I have no idea where it was purchased from. I think I'll try contacting any old Suzuki dealer and see if they can use the VIN to get a key. Thanks for the suggestions.

And I guess you are right about not riding anytime soon. I'm dying to go too. I just got back from two weeks in Hawaii. The roads there are awesome!

Problem solved! I found my key!!

It was in the strangest spot. It must have fallen out of my pocket and landed right into one of my winter snow boots. Now the next step is to get a couple keys made so I'm not in this mess again.

Do yourself a favor when you get the spare key made...

Tack weld the ring end to about 20 feet of logging chain, and wrap that around a cinder block... You'll never loose it again...
