Leather suits

We all know it's good to have protection out on the road, so it's time for me to invest in something more than the leather jacket I have that fits too casually for good protection.
So, I'm looking for something snug enough to keep all armour in place whether it be a 1 or 2 piece should I ever do a get-off, or cross paths with the wrong cager. Does anyone have any opinions, or experience with one or the other enough to speak of any advantages or disadvantages to either of them? Strickly speaking of leather here. Thanks for any knowledge lent.

well, i got my Alpinestars GPU 2-piece suit for a little under 600 bucks shipped... it's lasted me through a couple of minor off-road excursions & many miles of travel. Jacket is long enough that you can wear it w/o lower half & it still covers your lower back. Perforated all down the front so it's not STIFILING hot, it's bearable. I am able to wear it through the summer heat but i do sweat my ass off in it....

Obviosly that's a link to Newengough.com but I got mine from Cal-sportbike, one of the supporting vendors at ODFU. He gives a discount to members w/ more than 100 posts or somethin like that. Todd is very good to deal with, responds to emails very promptly and handles customer service quite well.

If you're wearing this for street, i'd HIGHLY suggest getting a two-piece rather than a one piece. One pieces aren't really reasonable for street usage, it'll probably discourage you from wearing it when you should.

I don't have a suit but my Alpinestar Jackets have saved my ass twice and held up great with just some scuffs. Excellent Quality for a fair price.

I have a Vanson jacket that has worked very well. It survived a 60mph low-side w/minimal damage. More importantly, I didn't suffer a single scratch, the jacket did it's job. They also make matching pants that zip to the jacket to make it a full suit. You will hear people say that they are too expensive and heavy but they use thick leather and custom fit stuff if needed. I don't fit into off the shelf stuff so having a place that is local (fall river) and does custom fitting was key for me. You can find Vanson stuff on Ebay for much less than retail.

GL in your selection.
