I work in in the Corporate Security field... if you wanna call me a "rent-a-cop" go ahead, but it's far from the reality of it. I sit behind a desk (the one i'm at right now ) wearin a suit & tie and monitor alarm systems, cameras, elevators etc etc.... doesn't pay much for what I could be getting w/ my level of education, but it pays pretty damn good for what I have to do on a daily basis......... man, I need a real job

What's your education if you don't mind me asking? Curious because college is next year...looking at mechanical engineering and/or engineering management...but always looking for something that would be considered "fun" or "useful" to focus on. Anybody with suggestions?
Oh yeah, don't stunt on roads....haha, thread only marginally hijacked.

Big Red.... please stop. The saliva has begun to leak out of my mouth and onto my desk. I've been biting my tongue a long time now and you're beginning to provoke me.

Look.... Pro, Squid, Newbie, Stunna, whatever you want to call it.... doing the shit on public roadway is gay. Same goes for racing. If you do it in the appropriate place, both require talent.

Brian

PS. I just hate the hypocrites who feel 90mph is different than doing wheelies. It's all the same on public roadways. You put others in danger. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Let me get something straight. The only one throwing around the term Squid in this thread was me. I happen to feel the same about anyone who stunts, be it a seasoned "professional" or someone that is just starting out.

I gave a nice warning that most people on this board aren't into stunting, at which point he (poorly) attempted to take a personal shot at me.

none of your posts in this thread are constructive...have you veiws thats fine just dont be a dick about it...

as for what he has said...i think he handled himself very well..better then i would have if I got a bunch assholes jumping down my throat

oh an i didnt realize we elected you to tell people how "WE" feel about stunting....

you are no better then the squids and harely guys you complain about.... just another stereo typing elitist that thinks he is better then everyone...

dont tell me you have never ever tried a wheelie on a public road...you are lying...whether it a lame ass crak of the gass to see what would happen or actually trying to clutch a wheelie up.... even if you do deny this..you ride with people that have.. do you read them the same riot act?

doubtful.... so instead of bashing a guy on his firsts post for something you dont agree with you could have skipped to the next thread... didnt your mom ever tell you if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all?

Seriously.... stop!!! You can't begin to educate someone who feels they know it all.

Cant we all just get along

Honestly though, as I recall this site did have a stunting section awhile back and it seemed like a few ppl were into it asking questions to Brian about how to wheelie and do stoppies. As a new member he didnt know that and everyone seemed to jump on him....People who spend time and money to do what they like to do whether it be stunting or racing bikes the right way have equal amount of talent to me on the track and or closed areas. Just my opinion.

Cant we just get along....LOL....Here the best fix for this problem.if you like stunting wake early on sunday mornings meet up with people from this site ride out west for at least 2 to 3 hrs, find a nice long empty rd, Pull all the stunts you want and have lunch with each other and then ride back at least 50 to 90 mph over the speed limit .I am so looking ahead to see this happening next riding season.

Ps. I almost forgot to add stopping during these rides for photo sessions.

The word "stunna" is very, very annoying. If you'd like to be a "stunter", and pronounce it with an accent, then you're cool in my book.

And BigRed, STFU, you're not getting a vest now matter how much ass you kiss. Douche.

I'm NOT DOWN with stunting on public streets and acting like a 2-bit thug.

I don't think anyone's lookin for me to do this, but let me make my opinion perfectly clear, hopfully alot of people, including the stunters will agree with me.

I don't look down on stunters no matter what their ability level is as long as they're doin their thing in a safe environment (which may even include a public road, believe it or not, AS LONG as they'll hurt no one but themselves.) If you're doin a wheelie on roads around other cars, even at the speed limit, I won't have much sympathy for ya if you loose it and rash yourself up or hurt someone else.

Now... do I think what i just described is different from me haulin ass at 90-100mph on the highway? yup, actually I do. It sounds hypocritical, but I've never seen a bike unexpectedly go out of control and slam into the car next to it or a guardrail when it was on two wheels the whole time, but I've seen it happen when it was on one. Bringing it all the way up on one wheel in traffic opens a whole new can of worms. Even if you think you are in control, you're at the mercy of the bike much more than if you were on two wheels and speeding.

Now if you're on a highway with VERY light traffic and ZERO chance of hitting someone should you go down, knock yourself out. I won't deny that i've brought the front up on public roads, but before I did I ALWAYS.... ALWAYS looked 360 degrees around me to make sure I wouldn't affect anyone's life aside from my own should I have lost control.

Unfortunately for the stunting community they've got FAR more asshats that don't do that & loft the front up in traffic for everyone to see and scoff at. That's where I draw the line and look down upon them. It's a shame that there's so many jackasses that give the stunting community a bad name & spoil it for people that minimize the risk and WEAR GEAR!

Bottom line, my opinion of what is safe & what is not safe is really a rider-by-rider and situational basis... there's no black & white. I hang out w/ Big Red on occation & ride with him, I hang out w/ Ducrappy on occation & ride with him... perfect case of two TOTALLY different people w/ different opinions, as has been made obvious by this very thread

any stunters out there?

You know one way I look at it the last year or two, and maybe it takes some of the fun out of riding.

If I am going to do ANYTHING illegal or irresponsible on my bike, I look around and make sure NO ONE in a car, on foot, etc.. can see me. If other riders, generally sportriders I know see me, that is fine, but no one else.

I don't stunt, I've pulled a grand total of one wheelie over an inch or two with the occasion item of the front wheel coming up a teeny bit on a corner exit.. But sometimes I will ride fast. But if ANYONE can see me and take my behavior as an example to stereotype all motorcyclists, I won't do it.

Now unfortunately this means as soon as I see a single car on the road I slow down to make sure I am not going any faster then the typical cager would. Kind of makes riding not as fun, but it is safer too.

So I end up getting my fun in on tight twisty areas where no one can see me and my speed never stays highly illegal for very long.

If you can wheelie this way that is fine. Problem is you usually can't, because wheelies are generally done in a straight line, and any road straight enough to wheelie impressively & safely has good visibility and someone will see you. I think the reason people often disrespect stunters is stunters usually want to be seen. If enough people can see you to notice you and you're on a public road, you're probably pissing someone off and endangering someone.
