SVixxer was in a motorcycle accident tonight

I know quite a few of you have ridden with my husband Matt, aka SVixxer. He was in an accident this evening coming home from his uncle's house in Southwick, MA. He was riding in and out of foggy areas. He came to a stretch where he saw a vehicle turn left into his lane, and in a split second, he was slamming into the minivan. He will fill in more details later. As of right now, he is being admitted overnight for observation at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Thankly, he was wearing ALL of his gear - leather pants and jacket included. He has no road rash thanks to his gear. He also has no broken bones. However, he does have a bruised kidney and his back is in horrible pain. It hurts unthinkably when he moves. I just thought you would all want to know of a fellow riders condition, especially those who know him personally. Before heading to the hospital in the morning, I will be stopping by the auto body shop where his bike was towed and take pictures of the damage. Be safe out there everyone...the season is almost over. Matt thought an accident was the last thing he would experience today.

Good luck with the recovery!

Speed and distance perception gets really wacked in the fog.

Matt,

I hate bad news like this, especially Hearing of a good fellow rider getting hurt. I'm happy to hear your gear did it's job and saved you from more serious injuries!

I hope you heal quickly and they give you some good pain meds!

Call it a season, and start eyeing for a new ride for next year!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I will pass them along to him when I see him this morning. As for the driver, yes, he did stop. Matt said the driver and his wife were incredibly apologetic. The driver even went so far as to ask him if he could bring his bike to our house for him. Apparently, the guy thought he could make the turn quick enough, but unfortunately, that's not the case.

I hope he admitted this to the cops for the report. I had a woman side swipe me years a go. She was very appologetic to me because it was her fault, but when the cops got involved it was a whole different story. Seeing I was only 19 she went with the chance they would buy her story over mine. Thank God for the nice lady behind me that gave me her info and stood as my witness! Without her I probably would have been screwed.... Good Luck. Should be cut and dry if it's in the report!

That's awful. Glad he's not hurt worse.

On the bright side, it's a good time of year to have this happen. Now he'll have all Winter to heal and get the bike fixed or replaced

Hey Sarah, sorry to hear about this, if there is anything I can do all you have to do is call.
Matt - Dude you should have rode with us. Though the roads were pretty crappy in the early morning - wet leaves and heavy misting. Heal up over the off season and I'll be riding with you again in the summer -- Hang in there. Oh does this mean you'll be getting that R1 -- lousy way to go about it.

Andy

Best Wishes. Hope you are riding again soon.

Try not to get any surgery on your back, if at all possible. Work the pain out by exercise and stretching.
