Need Thoughts on all-weather gear

I am looking to add a nice waterproof 2 piece suit to my riding gear. I currently have a decent 1 piece leather suit that is perforated and a vanson jacket. But I do not have anything I can wear when the weather is getting a little colder or damp. My thoughts have been on Cortech over on newenoughs site.

Any thoughts would be good

Thanks

Aerostich stuff is good but not 100% reliably waterproof. Iwear mine in the rain and the crotch leaks if it's really pouring.

I have heard good things about First Gear stuff, but only own their mesh gear, and that stuff leaks like a sieve

I have a two-piece leather suit and a two-piece Gore-Tex suit -- both are Dainese. The leather is reasonable in the wind and rain, but if it's cold out you still feel it. The Gore-Tex is fantastic though, in 40- and 50-degree temps and the rain I still felt nice and warm (and dry).

That said, I would be tempted to see how much protection you get from a one- or two-piece rain suit over the top of your leathers? Might be worth a try...

the First Gear HT overpants & jacket are working pretty good for me, armor doesn't seem to be as good as some others, but adequate, the gear is comfortable fit, warm & dry

in the past I have had Joe Rocket Ballistic series, the fit was ok, armor was good, but stitching & zippers sucked, they leaked in the rain, and drafts in the cold

I also have an Aerostitch Roadcrafter one piece, it leaks in crotch, and is only as warm and windproof as what you wear underneath.

$550 is cheap if that thing actually performs.

It's got Vents though, which makes me doubt it's actually good for all day riding in nasty weather.

Vents are going to leak given enough bad weather.

Drystar vs. Gore-tex is another issue. Gore-tex seems to be more expensive but it does test better then the other membranes.

The thing that is hardest to build is the crotch.. on a sportbike if it rains REALLY hard and you're not moving very fast the water can puddle up between your crotch & the tank and that really sucks and tests the gear. Look for a fly on the pants that has a seemless panel behind the zipper... you have to pull the panel down to take a whiz but that beats wet crotch on a nasty day.

I don't know the budget but Motorport is top notch gear. When we met at MotoMart last summer I had on their kevlar 2-piece.

Here's the catch - the kevlar by itself is not very resilient to rain, nor is it very warm. Actually it breathes quite well.

But, Motoport makes a liner that goes into the pants/jacket, they claim you can ride it into the 30s without issues, and that it makes the gear pretty much impervious to water.

I'd give them a call and see what they have to say. You could skip the kevlar and go for codura, that would drop the price quite a bit.
