Question

your insurance???

hey all, I'm pretty new to this forum; this is my first post I think... Well I grew up here in MA, then about two years ago I spent some time in Albuquerque, NM where I bought my bike. I had Progressive insurance out there, but cancelled it right before I moved back home to MA. Well, I got my bike out here now, & I'm trying to get some insurance quotes online to see what I should expect and what one is best. I've gone to the biggies to get a quote: Geico Motorcycles, Progressive, and State Farm; but apparently none of them are offered here in MA from what the website says. What do some of you use for insurance? I really need to get covered again; I'm sick of riding uninsured and the temptation to is too great.

You know all you need to know. The big companies don't insure in MA b/c of state laws. I use Plymouth Rock and Arbella for my coverage and I purchase it through a mom and pop agency. I imagine most others do simlar.

Don't ride without. I think you are a total fool if you do.

I use Commerce too because they have an excellent group discount for a credit union I belong to.

Well for what it's worth, there are no discounts here in Mass, It is a state regulated insurance fees. So no matter where you go, expect to pay the same

There are discounts in MA unless something changed besides the SDIP system for 2006. Businesses and other entities can have discounts approved by the state which effect certain parts of your policy. For instance, many insurance agencies have discounts for employees with certain providers. The credit union I belong to has a discount set up with Commerce for all people who are members.

If you pay through an agent youre going to pay slightly more money because they take a fee for themselves. Try Amica I use them direct and its pretty good, you cna get a quote over the phone. You dont pay agent fees at liek some local place. Thats about the only real way to save money.

Commerce seems decent. I just go to a mom-n-pop shop for mine. Added in the medical for $5000 which just about doubled the rate, though.

(hey, old thread~!)

I use commerce. Any insurance you get in MA is pretty much going to suck.

mine doesnt suck that bad my 05 gsxr1000 is like 850 with a 500 deductible, in RI they wanted something like 3500 but the thing about RI is they dont have as many coverage restrictions.
