Jacket HelpOK, so my birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of asking for this jacket. http://www.newenough.com/icon_neoday...acket_page.htm I wanted full leather and price is a serious consideration so this is what I have found through massive searches. I need a little help with the sizing though. I'm pretty sure I need a 40 or 42 but some reassurance would be nice. I'm 5'9" and about 145/150 lbs. I'm skinny but I dont want the jacket to be too tight cause I like to layer in the winter. Another reason for the relaxed sizing of this jacket. Help please |

Jacket HelpThey are probably too big but I have a pair of Teknic Chicane leathers (2-piece) that I would sell you cheap if they fit. I think they are about 42 or so? I'm 6'1" but even when I'm very skinny at like 170-175 they are very snug on me. I need to check the size but I'd give them to you for about the cost of that jacket alone if you're interested. And I upgraded all the armor in the jacket except the back pad, cause I use a separate back protector. If they did fit you'd have plenty of room for layering. edit: They've been worn <5 times cause they are just too small. Last edited by benVFR : 04-14-06 at 01:57 PM. |

Jacket HelpPhate, i'm only a few lbs bigger than you & an Alpinestars 40 fits me nice & snug. I'm guessing a 42 Icon would be pretty baggy on you. Go w/ the 40. |

Jacket HelpNP. This is under the assumption that the Icon fitment is looser than the Alpinestars, but even if the icon fitment is the same as the A*s, i'd recommend you get a 40. If you wanna make sure for certain, Icon is a pretty well carried brand by most shops. If in doubt, go try somethin on. |

Jacket HelpThe quality with Teknic seems to be there. The big complaint/concern is Teknic is made from Goat leather as opposed to Steer, Kangaroo, etc... like the more expensive brands. Not really a concern for me, my leathers seem fine, quite thick, just thought I would mention it. They are also made in Pakistan if you have any particular biases about where you buy stuff from. Yates suit is probably not the same stuff or even made by the same people. |

Jacket HelpI'm just about the same size as well Phate, and wear an A* 40 for jacket as well. You'd be surprised. When I initially bought it, it was pretty tough just climbing into it. Now that its broken in, its comfortably snug with just a t-shirt and thin cotton long sleeve under it. I rode in mid 20's/30 degree weather earlier this year, and layered as well, and I was plenty comfy with a pair of tshirts, 2 long sleeve cotton t's, and a medium weight, well fitting fleece zip-up. Its a little bit of a squeeze climbing into the jacket with the stuff on, but its not that bad. Mobility in the arms is actually pretty good all bundled up like that, and I stayed plenty warm. I'd rather be a little squished in the cold weather and have the jacket fit well in the summer, than be totally comfortable in winter, and have a baggy jacket in the summer. |
