getting license thru RMV

So I took the motorcyle training course 2 years ago a couple months after getting my permit, and didnt end up getting my license (had unpaid parking tickets). So when renewing my permit I asked if I could be exempt from the road test since I took the training and their answer was 'no'.

Have any of you guys taken the motorcyle road test thru the RMV? Is it hard (read a lil about it in the booklet)? Is there anything I should make sure of before taking the test? Thanks in advance.

I got my license 5 years ago with a road test and its not bad. They had me do basic u turns and stuff. Using signals when you turn. Drive in a circle. I even had to put my foot down twice and still got it. I took my test on my old 2000 RC51 which wasnt the friendlest at low speeds either. If you know what you are doing you should be ok.

Think they would make a big deal about integrated signals?

The test is easy but you might want to just borrow a completely legal bike just in case the state trooper is a nit picker.

probably yes-- I believe integrated signals are illegal in this state because they give you a spec on how far apart turn signals must be

yeah, when i take my bike for inspection i put the stock blinkers back on.... luckilly when the original owner did the instalation, he kept the stock wiring intact so i can just bolt em on & plug em in. I THINK the law states they have to be 8" apart.

That is going to suck. Luckily I dont have them installed yet. However I do have short stalk rear signals, which I am sure arent 8" apart.

I took the test at the RMV last year, it was pretty easy. All i had to do was a couple circles in both directions, and a figure 8. You cant put your foot down until you pull back into the parking spot either. Go find an empty parking lot and practice for a little bit, you'll be fine.

Same here, did you go to North Attleboro to? I think the road test is a joke.

Yup, in the cumberland farms parking lot behind the registry. Somebody i knew that took the test a while ago told me it was real hard because they gave you such a small area, so i practiced real tight circles and 8's. I couldnt believe how much room i had to do it when i went to take the test.

My brother just took his last friday in Taunton. His test was at 4pm. The RMV official had him drive down the street and turn around and come back, thats it. He said he was in and out in 10 Minutes. What a Joke, he had just gotten his permit on Wednesday that same week.

that actually pisses me off a little. It's already easy enough to get your license through MSF and the DMV pulls that kinda shit? And people wonder why "motorcycles are dangerous"...... rediculous

Ummm the taunton RMV isnt too far from me, might have to set my appointment there. Brockton's RMV tends to be busy all the time anyways.

Take the Experienced Rider Course and get licensed through them. You'll learn to ride better and get licensed.
