5 star shine

http://www.5starshine.com/motorcycle.html

Has any one used this product before? It sounds pretty cool but could also be complete bull. Before I shell out $70, I'd like to know if anyone has tried it and does it work. What are your thoughts?

Never heard of this product. You can't go wrong with some Honda Polish. Give Bettencourts a call and see if they still have some in stock.

I guess it's like the saying goes. If it sounds too good to be true than it probably is. I know Honda Polish can be bought online. I'll have to pick some up since so many people say good things about it.

Application of 5 STAR SHINE is a simple two-step process that takes about an hour. Anybody can do it! Including your slutty hooker girlfriend!!

hahaha they seriously need to work on their pictures and videos.

I don't know if any of you have seen the second video on that site, but they claim the 5 star is on the right side of the hood. To me it looks like the left side gives a better shine/water protection. Unless they mean the right side as viewed from inside the car.

I bought some Honda Polish last week at Motorsports International in Auburn. Yes, it was in the spray can.

i think they ae selling the stock but cannot order new stuff...dunno i thought the same thing then bought a can at Chip's MC clinic in Northbridge and the lady there didnt know anything about it when i asked

fwiw - the honda polish isnt a substitute for a good wax...it is good for detailing in between waxes...also if used on a dusty bike it will cause swirl marks

Even when you're washing the bike it's going to cause swirl marks cause you're rubbing the faring.

Thats why I'm not a big fan of glossy black bikes. They look awesome but after a couple washes you'll have the swirl marks ALL over the bike.

Has nothing to do with the aerosol ...

Massachusetts with its infinite liberal wisdom outlawed
Honda Pro Polish and a number of other aerosols because
some pathetic excuses of adolescents are 'huffing' the
crap for a cheap high.

Due to the long term respiratory and neurological damages
to the central nervous system, it was outlawed.

Go figure ...

PLEASE PROTECT ME FROM THE IDIOTS OUT THERE!

I think NH still allows the sale (and re-ordering) of the Hondashine fyi.

yeah maybe black wasn't the best idea. The rest of the bike looks fine but I need to get some kind of tank protection. It's already got some swirls.

BTW Armor All paste was a 2nd place to Zaino.

My Avie is 3 yrs old with 83K; no swirls.

It can be done. Don't wash by hand, go to a sprayer (automatic laser wash).
Use a clay bar, then a wax. Use a fresh towel constantly.

I go through 15 towels between the clay, galze, and wax.

If you drop it; throw it away.

good luck bro!

I'm thinking about getting some sort of plastic tank protector. I've been looking at StompGrip. Anybody have any experience with it?
I had a leather tank protector on my old bike but dirt would get behind it. I think something that sticks to the tank would be better.

I've used this stuff on a few cars, but not on a bike. It does work really well. The big benefit is it will keep the same shine you get after application for about 2-3 years. (you still gotta wash the car, but you don't need to wax/polish it) I think they claim five years, but it does start to dull after 2-3. I don't think its really worth it on a bike, its easy enough to polish a bike up with a number of the products listed. I use the Motul Spray Wax on my Elefant, keeps it looking new. But on a car its more of a PITA to wax the damn thing all the time. Worth it for a car, but overkill for a bike.

knarlydog, thanks for the info. I think you are right, it's not that pain in the ass to wax a bike but a car can get annoying. I'm still looking for something to protect my tank from scratches from my jacket and pants. So far it looks like I'll try the StompGrip panels but they don'y make one for my year bike yet. I'll have to get the universal and cut it myself.

Re: 5 star shine

If it sounds too good to be true ...

Go to the autoparts store and get a brand name polish.

As for me, I got so many chips and scratches on my bike, I don't care anymore. I just ride the piss out of it and it still puts a grin on my face everytime I throw my leg over it.

I don't care how it looks, I care how it runs!
