I got to give that lady an A+ for the attitude of a winner!

After going through all that, she turns around and buys her own bike!

I wonder if her "capri's" were jeans or something else, because they didnt hold up for shit. If my dick was ground off from road rash I'd kill myself.

Maybe its time to buy some pants. Christ, after reading this Im thinking about buying this:

That's a very nice suit, John. You already have the leather jacket so why not buy only leather pants? Or are you looking to get another jacket?

522 foot slide.

I hope someone threw the rider out the back of a truck naked so he knows what it's like to be treated so shittily.

It really wasn't her fault.. the guy in control of the bike is the one who was a fuckup here.

I don't agree here. Yes he does have responsibility in this as he was riding at extreme speed with a passenger on the back, but he also took the risk to put her on the back wearing no gear. BUT she also knew the risks involved, and choosed to get on that bike wearing no protection whatsoever...and she was probably enjoying thr "fast ride" until it got "out of control fast". At this point, crashing wearing no gear, at 100MPH or at 150MPH wouldn't make much difference I would think.

My Suzuki Racing jacket is textile. I'm not really going to buy a race suit, but I was looking at this leather jacket:

I think newenough has it for like $250. It's gonna have to wait though, because I need tires and brake pads in a bad way.

that caught my eye too... what kinda fuknut goes so fast the wind rips his passenger off the back? Then again, what kinda passenger allows a rider to go so fast the wind rips her off the back? No matter how you dice it, alot of stupidity lead up to all that pain.

Sucks, but at least she learned & is doing her best to teach others before they learn the same way she did.

Err.. yah you're right.

My statement was pretty screwed up.

I shouldn't have said the rider was in control of the bike, because apparently he was not.

Pete how the heck is the passenger supposed to get the rider to slow down if the rider turns out to be an asshat?

If he's that stupid anything she could have done to try and force him to slow down would be likely to cause them to crash anyway.

Well that's a pretty dumb question, I've been told to slow down by a passenger before w/o crashing... yell, squeeze the hell outta the rider, hit em in the chest, use your helmet to knock on theirs.... unless something big happens or you're doing something REALLY stupid, it takes talent to crash when going down the highway. I still don't think she's telling the whole story as to how it happened, but Jay's right... doesn't fuckin matter now, does it?

I don't know.

If she died I would have wanted him to be hauled up on vehicular manslaughter charges or something.

It's just so frigging stupid it's not even funny. What passenger thinks they are getting taken for a 150+ mph ride when someone throws them a helmet and asks if they want to go for a ride down the beach?

I just wasted a bunch of time trying to find a racing story about some of the big crashes at Daytona to compare this slide distance to those. ISTR a few really horrific slides right before they killed the 1000cc Superbike 200 mile race. This one sure seems right up there.

Sorry I'm just feeling a little bit more depressed at the general stupidity of motorcyclists after reading this story. This kind of shit sometimes makes me wonder if the government should try to take our bikes away.

Wow this thread is all over the net right now. I just read someone elses theory on what REALLY happened.:

Quote:
Holes to the story.

Almost every helmet on the planet will blow apart if the visor were to open and become an "airfoil" at 120 miles per hour.

Ive accidently flipped my visor up a bit too much on a cool down lap and had it snap my head back a bit before it took the visor and its components completely off. I have not seen a helmet that has the visor locked in with any hardcore mechanism in YEARS not 4 years like 15 years.

Has anyone ever held their hand out the car window at 80 miles per hour and done the "airplane"? Of course you have. So you know how the wind reacts to your hand but how little force it takes to overcome it with moderate strength in your forearm/shoulder's rotator cuff. We aint talking about a 70+ pound torso with legs gripping a tail section or hands on the tank.

Now lets get into the idea that the visor got caught. According to her story the guy in front of her was tucking down a bit, naturaly she would follow suit as it would be uncomfortable for her to be sitting straight up as it is. With this in mind, the airstream is already extremely turbulent from rolling up the front fairing and over the dudes helmet and would easily go over her head.

Ive run the race track two up with people who havent worn a helmet but maybe a few times in their life. Ive never had a single person say anything about their helmet buffeting and Ive never felt it bouncing off my helmet from buffeting. As a matter of fact the only time Ive ever felt a helmet bounce was on the brakes as people generaly arent ready for the initial bite.

So you mean to tell me that

A) she was on the bike at 120+ mph the dude was in a tuck and so was she but magicaly a gust of wind not only caught her closed or very near closed visor but also ripped it open and lifted her head to which she launched backwards and had the ability to know better than to grasp at ANYTHING she could when she was about to bail (funnily enough I know that about 80% of all people pushed of a curb by their friend will grab at the friend for a hand hold out of pure reaction and were talking 6" curbs guys) and instead of the helmet blowing the visor completely apart, it parasailed her off the back?

BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this was the case, every helmet on the planet would be redesigned due to the severe lawsuits that would be flowing thru the AMERICAN COURT SYSTEM with all the people I know personaly whom have actually lost a visor due to something stupid like this.

We should see people flying off bikes once a week every summer.

I find this kind of shit stupid and irresponsible. She made a bullshit story up to cover the fact that the rider and her were being stupid and made a serious mistake of sorts.

I speculate that the rider was trying to throw wheelies but I may be wrong, Ill stay with that version though.

My version goes like this.

Dude tossed the front up without warning, she didnt have her hands clasped and she got tossed off the fucking bike.

I completely disagree with that asshole. Of course with any story there's going to be know it alls lining up to try and pick it apart. I won't bother picking apart that post myself. I would however pick a fight with that guy for his piss poor attitude.

Actually this is isn't a new story. It's at least a year old. I saw another article on this chick a while ago, and that verison of the story said the rider was doing a wheelie, and she fell off the back because she wasn't holding on tight enough.
