Is there any reason I shouldn't do this?

A guy in California wants to buy my Hawk.

I have actually talked to him on the phone and this appears legit.

He is asking for the VIN number of the bike. For some reason I didn't think you were supposed to give those out. I can't think why but it is just sticking in my head to be wary of that?

Should I give it to him?

You've got the title and possession of the bike. No problem.

He most likely wants to make sure you're not sketchy and that it is not stolen, etc.

My guess is he's gonna research the history. If you've got the title and bike, I wouldn't worry about it...

But while you're at it, can I have your checking account number?

He's going to steal your bikes identity.
