While I always thought the whole "country club racetrack" idea was stupid, it sucks they're having so much trouble. It would be excellent to have another local track.

I must say I like bikes.

But if I lived on a beach road & HDs with SPs & some jap, brits & wops, came by often I would be one bitching MF wtf Who wants to hear that shit, goes on all hours. Places in Ct the bike noise is bad.. Go ahead RANT away.

I think they have a good chance in appeal,

the town didn't have ordinances when they started the project, another new development in their favor is a recent US supreme court ruling that will now come into play

It wasn't gonna be a 'race' track. No NASCAR, no AMA, nothing like that. Yes, LRRS CLAIMED they had a date lined up. But there wasn't gonna be any 'race series'. It woulda basically have been a proving ground for those that could afford membership to test the performances of their high perf vehicles. And for the mere mortals like you & I to attend track days...

The whole noise issue is a totally dead point. Being at the groundbreaking ceremonies, I can tell you the location of the actual course was about a mile into the woods. There was even a point where I needed 4 wheel drive to get to the location...

That area is DEAD and has been since the early 90's. They NEED something like this up there. I remember when that area (and all along route 16) was a thriving tourist trap. They need it...

Funny thing is, at the groundbreaking and luncheon, the protestors were all crying about wasting gas and comparing the track to soldiers dying in Iraq. Even funnier was them singing 'Give Peace A Chance' out in front of the restaraunt where the luncheon was. Yes, 'Give Peace A Chance' to show their disdain for having a country club for motorsports at the base of Whitier Mtn. They don't have a fuckin' clue WHY they don't want it...

My Jeep club (www.deepwoodsextreme.com) use to wheel Whittier all the time. We cut most of the trails on that Mountain. Things were looking up this year when KB and I went up there for the weekend. They have ATC, Rock Crawl, and High Speed Truck races going on all weekend.

you dont know that. i think it would have been only a matter of time before AMA would want to race there. a brand new facility back on the east coast? why not?

No grandstands, about 3 toilets, no parking, the list is endless.
