Blasts from the Past

Some of you track riders might like these... I was digging through older photos and came across pics of 3 of my old bikes. Sorry for the photo quality. They were taken with an inadequate 35mm camera and scanned with a 24 bit scanner.

The first is my 1988 NT650 Hawk GT w/ the quarter fairing on it. (Note the 1989 license plate in one of the photos.)

The second is my 1990 CBR600F (Hurricane)

And lastly, my 1993 GSXR-750. Someone on here had almost EXACTLY the same bike and mods. Karaya might note the "Turtle Racing" sticker on the lower. He's the one that did the Vance & Hines and K&N installations back in '94.

Shouldn't there be a 'KERKER' decal under the 'OAKLEY' one? Just ain't right otherwise...

Actually, no, since I eventually had a Vance & Hines Pro Supersport system installed. It was so damn loud that no one would ever ride to my right.

I was pulled over a few times by the po-po due to the volume of the exhaust.

The Gixxer also had an OAKLEY decal on the windscreen and a No Fear decal. Damn trendy B.S.

The Camaro was only a Z-28, not an IROC. THe glasses were Oakley Blades, which ended up getting stolen out of my car at what was then Great Woods, in Mansfield. (For those who don't know the history, that's the old name of the Tweetah Centah)

The hawk is damn cool! I so rarely get to see them in street trim. How was it as a streetbike? Lethargic? My race one is!

Glad to see you started with the right bike. Too bad you got rid of it.

Hawks are only lethargic with poor riders!

Well, since it replaced an 82 Suzuki GS450L, it was actually pretty quick, IMO. The 450 was a single-cylinder engine.

I actually bought it at the same time a friend of mine bought his 88 blue Hawk. He ended up putting a full fairing on it. I actually didn't like the look of the full fairing on that bike.

I really liked the look of the bike with the then "prototype" single sided swingarm. One of Honda's first street bikes to feature it.

Of the 5 street bikes I've owned, it's probably the coolest sounding bike with the stock exhaust. I never did anything to it other than the quarter fairing and sold it after only having it for 3 years.

Cartoon tits over some pretty cool older bikes.

You guys need to get your priorities straight.

Definitely had my fair share of Oakley glasses over the years. (I still have 3 pairs)

So, suffice it to say I've earned the right to put the big O stickers anywhere I choose.

I go back just a little further than that. My first pair of Oakleys was a pair of Factory Pilots. if anyone remembers those, they were essentially a pair of ski goggles that had sunglass temples with the loops behind the ears.

I had them when I went to see my family down in TX and had them on most of the vacation. I came back looking like a reversed raccoon.

For Steve...tits, bikes, it's all good.

You had cool bikes.

Ironically I ride a Hawk currently and 3 of my friends all 'learned' on a CBR600F that they traded around. One would have it for a year, then next guy, then next guy. Last fella (Joe) stuffed it into the tires in Turn 3 at Loudon then moved to Cali and sold it to some kid for like $400, it was a ratbike at that point.

Never had a mullet, but did use to wear the gold's and world gym tanks and workout pants with the weird patterns on them.

No fanny packs or fluorescent windbreakers either.
