I thought I saw it all

I wish I had my camera with me tonight.

Im sitting at my desk about 11pm and I decide I need a drink. Of course I dont have anything here to drink so I have to go to the store. Its like 10 degrees out. So Im in my car shivering my way to the store as my car heats up. I get there and theres a dude on a Hardly sitting in the packing lot. How fucking cold must he be.

From now on I dont leave home without my camera.

So, what's the big deal, yer a woose, I've had my SV out as cold as -12°, not for short ride either, riding my bike is just as warm as driving cage with heated clothing & grips

the best part about riding in cold air

You being a mental patient does not make anyone else a "woose". It just makes you mental.

I don't think that he is a mental patient ...

I think that it makes perfect sense to ride when you can.

I got the gear to ride till the teens and then my hands get cold.
If I had electrically heated gloves, I would be riding today.

What I think qualifies for a mental patient is someone who
spends 15k for a gixxah fashion accessory and only rides it
in July and August wearing flip flops, wife beaters and cargo shorts.

It does help if they are talking on a cell phone going down the
road.

If I had heated gear and grips I'd still be riding. Instead my gear is perf'd which makes it not so fun.

Not me. All the heated gear in the world wouldnt keep me warm. I ride because I want to not because I have to. Besides its too cold for my bike to run properly. Im still cold just thinking about that guy last night.

good running bikes run even better in the cold, sorry you bike is not running right

your loss believing that heated gear cannot keep you warm,

I hardly think I ride in cold cause I have to.

Randy here is the question for you...

It's one thing with the heated gear.

The Harley guys are never wearing Heated gear, they're barely ever wearing a full face helmet or even a hat, and they're not even wearing terribly warm gear.

I don't know how they do it. Maybe they're drunk. It keeps your blood from freezing.

I guess if I were to tape up some of the radiator it would be fine. I just runs too cool when it gets cold. But as I said its too cold for me anyway. The winter also gives me an excuse to put the bike on stands and buy lots of parts for it.

As for heated gear not keeping me warm. You need to undertand that even on the hottest days of summer Im usually still cold. So unless its putting out some serious heat its really not going to help me much.

My heated gear does alright but it's no match for sub-25 degree weather. Just the way it is.

What do you mean it runs too cool ...

Have you ever heard about a thermostat?

It may take two or three minutes longer to reach operating
temperature but the only effect that the cold has on engine
temp is that the thermostat cycles less frequently.

My bike goes from 185 - 210 summer or winter ...

In the summer my bike opperates around 180-195ish when Im moving. Stopped is a different story. When it starts to cool in the fall the bike runs at about 160ish when Im moving. The side mount radiators were not the most thought out design honda came up with and it makes for irregular cooling characteristics.

At -12 I would think any extra horsepower would be more than lost to the stiff lubricants. (chain, wheel bearings,...)

I once saw a guy spin his back tire on the pavement outside a Dunkin Donuts on a rather cold evening. I think it was on a Tuesday.
