Rode North Cal last weekend

I rented a 1200 Roadster in San Francisco last weekend. I cannot say how amazing the roads in california are. I mean absolutely amazing. I rode nothing but curves from Friday until Sunday...BTW, the new Roadster is pretty impressive.

I don't like California, but I would move there just for the roads.

I'm trying to post some pics, but I keep getting a too big error.

I rented a car out there and did some touring. I want to get the bike out there sometime. The roads are awesome.

I rented a V-Scrod a few years back and rode CPH, Malholland, Angeles Crest Highway and loved it. I would love to venture further north some other time on a Bimmer.
I tried renting a BMW this weekend but plans changed and I had to work. Good thing though because I came down with a nasty cold.

Leaving CA tomorrow for Pittsburgh for a week, then back here to Sunny CA for another week.. Can't wait to spend some time at home.

So where are you pictures to go with your thread????? We want to see!!!

What roads? I'm rather fond of Route 9 from Saratoga to Santa Cruz and Route 132 from San Jose to Patterson, in the bay area.

Yeah up into Marin county along the coast is totally amazing.

I rented too from Dubbelju in SF. Its too bad they dont have
some decent bikes to ride.

I'd like to try some of those roads with an R6 !

This place has "sportbikes" Pacific Motorcycle Rentals, Inc. and this place has BMWs [url=http://www.dubbelju.com[/url].

My favorite road was probably 128 between 101 and 1. At least 20+ miles of curves and no traffic.

The whole route looked something like rt 1, to some middle of nowhere road, to rt. 101, rt 128, rt 1, rt. 299, interstate 5 back to SF. My loop took me all the way to Oregon. That might have been a little too far north since I ended up freezing my ass off.

I need to figure out how to reduce the size of my pictures so I can post them. Maybe it will work with the new site software.

This program works pretty well and it's free. You can pick the import and export folders and it will do all the pics fairly fast. AxiomX PicSizer

download " Irfanview" from HERE

open irfanview and select FILE ---> open --> select your picture; then IMAGE----> resize/resample --> type in a size like 600 X480, it will keep the aspect ratio (height to width) if you change one or the other, so try not to screw that up. i would just change the higher number to 600 and the lower number will automatically change depending on your image settings on your camera.

when you save AS, there is a quality meter that you can slide. bump the quality down (70%) since it is not necessary to have for viewing on the web. (although it is important when getting prints made)

Here are a couple of pics. Thanks for your help with resizing the pics. I wish I took more pics, these really don't do the roads justice.

The only downside was that sometimes on an inland turn I ran into the red gravel of death. After a while a though that maybe this is special, non-slippery California gravel. Nope, the bike can get squirly on that stuff.

Here's a couple from my go, the week after the MotoGP at Laguna in 05.

http://blammonet.com/califtrip/roadtrip.htm

I stitched about 5 photos together in one shot to get
the panorama effect. Wook's right its hard to do it justice with a little digital camera. I camped out in Point Reyes National Park. It was amazing.

BTW I found the bimmer big, slow and spongy. Next time I'm renting at Pacific !

My wife & I went out to Laguna Beach for business last November. Could only find a Fat Boy to rent. We rode the PCH as well as summa the roads 'in the hills'. Besides the bike being a total piece of shit (it was brand new too!), I was amazed at the roads and the scenery was incredible!

I was stationed north of SF for 4 years. There is more good riding out there then you can believe. Rt 1 is great if there are no cars. there are alot of other roads that have very little traffic just a few hours north of SF.
