New Bike

So a love my sportster (yeah, it is the R model so it goes fast ), but dragging my cans around the corners is not cool. At first I thought about putting rear sets on (seriously), changing the exhaust, and upgrading the engine...but instead...NEW BIKE.

I just put a deposit on a 2006 Triumph Speed Triple!!!!

I need to be sedated, I cannot believe I have to wait weeks before I can pick it up (or at least for the ice to thin somewhat). I think i have read every line of the triumph site, every post on the triumphrat.net, etc. Holy shit I am excited.

I grabbed this pic from the internet.

Anyway, I'm going to continue my search of the internet for everying speed triple.

Yeah, I just grabbed the pic from the internet. My bike is in the box and I didn't take a pic of the floor model.

You guys know your triumphs, the bike in the pic has some extras.

nice dude, nice... i dig the speed trip. but i know if i get one i'd wanna dump a ton of money into asthetics. I love it, but it doesn't quite give me a hard-on in stock form. I'm diggin the one in the pic up top though

there is no end to the factory add-ons you can put on that bike. I just noticed in the pic it looks like it has the anodized radiator cowls and the bellypan. There are all kind of tribal design body parts as well as carbon fiber bits too.

What? It's a NAKED bike. The only way to improve the aesthetics is to make it MORE naked, not cover it up.

I may not be one to talk, but I'm starting to understand all the chatter about your sex life. At least I know to get that desired effect , you remove stuff, not cover it up.

But let's not allow Pete to sidetrack this discussion. you are going to love that bike. You didn't say what color it is. I would certainly consider a fender eliminator like the one shown in the picture, though.

let MEEEE SIDETRACK?!?!?!!?

and I wouldn't add more stuff, I'd take it off.... most notably the stock exahust.... and I'd like to replace the stock gauges w/ something smaller & tuck it behind some smaller dual headlamps... and remove the heelguards, maybe get rearsets instead... and take off the handlebars & replace em w/ clip-ons.

but i probably would add a chin spoiler

yeah, the frame is black (okay, okay the only stock thing in the picture).

I'm going to try to keep the add-ons under control. At first, I'm only going to change the mirrors and rear fender. Harley aftermarket parts were always easy to find and relatively cheap, unlike the mirrors I want (expensive and only available in Italy or UK, WTF).

Black, of course. When I was looking for my Speed Triple, I went to Riverside and Parkway Cycles in Shrewsbury. Although Riverside had one in stock, the setup charge at Parkway was $200 less, so I put a deposit down and waited for it to arrive. In the end, Parkway got the bike that Riverside had in stock, and I drove it home. The bike is an '04 SE, the only Speed Triple to have a black frame until the new versions came out in '05.

Back in 2000 I bought a Triumph Legend from Riverside, which I still have. I never had any problems with them, had some service done on the Legend, and still go tire kicking there when I'm in the neighborhood. But the location sucks for me to get to if I need to get there after work, since I live on the other side of Boston. I bought a head bolt there in August when I happened to snap one putting my EX back together.

Great pic. (I just saved it). Yeah, I know you will all miss the sporty, but not me...I'm keeping it. However, she probably won't come on too many NESR rides in '07.

Congrats on your new ride! I'm still impressed that you managed to stay reasonably close to us on the long ride up through VT.

The sporty is going to feel like a dog after riding the triple!
