Yup... plugs are brand new...

and when we manually pulse power to the coil we get spark... it's just the bike won't do it on it's own....

like I said... I am leaning towards trying another pick-up coil.... dunno if that will do it... but other than the harness I've tried known good parts of everything else....

and the connections on the harness from the pick-up to the junction box, the igniter and the coils are all ok... not open or short....

this is racking my brain... and my friends... that's for sure...

Yo Degsy,
Thats awsome!
In fact, I almost said the same thing!
Oh yeah, one more thing.
I bet your boss was laughing his ass off when you left the office because of your accent. I would think that it would be hilarous to hear someone with an accent curse, so could you swear at the next race??? thanx man!
If i need work done, I now know where to go!
thanx again!

Thumbs up

degsy is da man!

he spent most of yesterday installing RaceTech springs, changing fork oil, cutting spacers, and generally setting up my suspension to where it fits me. it sounds pretty cliche to say "feels like a whole new bike", but that pretty much sums it up.

all of this on a rare October day that he coulda spent out riding.

U R da best, Degs!

(now, if we could just get rid of that annoying rattle in the front...)

That's great that you got that sorted out! I may have some ideas for you regarding the 'rattle'. Shoot me an email...

degs, one might assume you have some suspension setup experience, right? I want to get a good baseline setup to work from. I've read all kinds of stuff that tries to explain how, and I have a fair amount of experience/knowledge setting up car suspension (so I know what all the words mean), but this stuff seems a tad over my head, so I'm looking for some expert help. Do you think you could help me out some time? About how much $$ would we be talking? Thanks...

Matt, I have set up suspension for a few people and they seem to be happy with it. I might have to recommend changes to springs/valves etc but I will certainly get your suspension to the point where it is ballpark (or as near as you can get on stock suspension). It'll take about 10 minutes and I'm not going to ask you for cash for 10 minutes work. bring your bike toolkit and meet me somewhere that is convenient for both of us and we can set your suspension up in a parking lot somewhere. I could explain how to get to a ballpark setting, but it really is more of a "feeling" type thing when you bounce the forks and seat, for me it is anyway.

sweet, thanks man... we'll have to see what the weather's like, I can make it down to that chillis pretty much whenever, weekends or maybe after work, if it's warm enough, it's about an hours ride form my house...

Where do you live, Matt?

I am going to Manchester, NH on saturday morning for a meeting, I could meet up with you on the way and take a look at your suspension if you like.

Ideal static sag should be around 30mm for normal street riding. I've found the easiest way to measure this is to use two different colored wire ties, and it's easier to do this with at least three people to get accurate measurements...

I don't know if it's in your budget, Matt. But 10 years is way beyond the life span of the stock suspension. Hell, 5 years is pushing it with the crap they put on stock bikes. While it may help to adjust your suspension, it may be worth your while to at least look into economical replacements...

FYI-There's a great article in November's issue of Motorcyclist (I think) that explains very well the in's and out's of suspensions...

I'll probably drop $$ on suspension some time next season, but till then I figure a good setup will help. Degs, I live in Acton (across town from motomarket) so we can probably arrange something sat morning. What time were you thinking? (gotta make sure I make it back from friday night
